Jerry, it was you who inspired us! Thanks :2vrolijk_21:  I figure you cost me about $1500 so far! :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
Happy Thanksgiving and again many thanks for your help during my late nite garage moments!

Thanks Mike and Chip, yes you are correct about new header pipes.  I actually am not too happy with Bub 7's ......a little too quiet for me...or am I getting deaf?
Only problem with the conversion is that I must have pulled the xm antennae connection loose in the fairing....so I have to take it off again.  Now maybe I can find that missing wrench!  :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

It's not the Bub 7's.

I'm going to through another .02 in,  can anything be done about the plat location, I know that kuryakyn makes a rounded plate holder that attaches to the turn signal bar. :nixweiss:

Here is a pic of mine after putting the flhx seat and Clearview shield on it.  Not a great pic but it was cold and cloudy today.  Conversion complete......mostly.

Thanks d00d,
can't wait to ride it and see how it handles without the extra weight.  The flhx seat is hard so that will take some getting used to.....and I will need a matching back rest.  But so far I really like the look and feel (after a quick ride around the block today).
I enjoyed doing the work on it as it gives me a greater sense of "ownership". This will be my favorite....so far!   :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Okay, here is a good photo of the completed project.  One thing i'm disappointed with is the Kuryakyn Tune Trapper, it isn't worth $5.  I would imagine that my signal is about 50% less then with the stock antenna which by the way the relocator kit does not work on the '09s because of the filler panel between the saddle bag and the fender.  The good thing about the conversion is I can no take my hands off the controls when stopped at a light.  I'd imagine that the seat puts me about 3-4" closer to the ground.  The only things left to do are the exhaust "enhancement", new air cleaner and a power commander if they ever get their act together for the '09s.

Bike looks awesome!!!! :2vrolijk_21:

I have the rubber ducky antenna and had noticed reduced reception in rural areas with it. But I don't use the radio that much anymore (Zumo/MP3's).  Unless the radio stations have really strong signals, you are close to them, or not in a area w/a lot of trees I think the only thing that works really like it should is the OEM whip antenna. :nixweiss:

I'm with you, except i don't have a zumo yet.  Who needs the commercials and talk?  I have a hookup for an mp3 player in my front lower fairing and i can also do bluetooth from my phone.

Weamdog,

I have this in my fairing and I find it to work quite well:

Weamdog, looks great...nice job.  I went the the flhx seat, what did you put on?  I also put the Tune Trapper in but I usually use my xm anyway.  I have be out of town since my conversion and have not even tried the radio.  I boogered up the xm antennae somehow when I was wrestling with the new amp on top of the radio module so I will have to go back in the fairing when I get home next week. ugh!  >:( >:(
