Greg,
Did the 12" KW work out for you??

Don.........

Hi Don,

The 12"KW is great for around town and short trips.  I have the light tint.  It does look great.  I'm 5'11".  Did about 750 miles this past weekend with over 500 on the freeway at 70+ mph.  KW is barely adequate at highway speed.  Lot of air going right past your ears but I do wear ear plugs when I wear a half helmet so it was bearable.  I would probably try a 12" or so Clearview for another trip like that.  So, it depends on the riding you're doing.  I understand the Clearview comes with its own mounting hardware etc.  If so, it would be easy to swap one out for trips and would probably be ideal.

That 12" KW sure is a good looking shield.  Just does not look like it would work for me, as I am 6'1".

Hi Dave,

At 6'1", the KW would be a bad choice, even for around town.  I've read they're coming out with a taller model but no mention on the KW web site....

Firstly, Thanks to all for the great information on this site.  It's a great on line community!!  Sold my beloved '04 Road Glide to get a good price an have waited... and waited..., you know how it is.  Soooooo,  finally,  here it is in yellow.  Let the debate over best color begin in earnest!
Start the poll why don't you.  I'd love yours, I dress it with Jack Daniels bling, it would go great against the yellow. :-* :-* :-*

I'm really liking the Yellow.  It is an attention grabber for sure.  The dealer where I got my bike has one coming in soon.  I hope I can see it in person.  These bikes sure don't sit around long.
I just wish they sold then in the UK

Hey Greg, congratulations.  Your bike looks great.  I loved what you did to your previous Road Glide to cusomize it in a minimilist way.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got planned for your new ride. Your color combination is striking...there's now way in hell that bike will ever get lost in a sea of Harleys.  How do you like the handling and performance so far?

Thank you, Sierramadre!  I loved that black RG but the new frame and updates really make a difference.  The handling of the SERG is much improved (not that there was anything wrong, before).  It feels planted in the turns and very stable but nimble, for such a heavy bike.  I wish it did not weigh so much (power to weight ratio)  but it does move.  I've recored the stock exhaust and removed the cat.  Runs cooler with more power.  My heavy breather arrives Monday and Tuesday it goes in for dyno tune with a SERT like program that HD is not supposed to be able to detect.  I'm a Jim Kerr disciple, esp. in the power dept.

Waiting on the new lindbar and may do some pin stripping.  I have a tour pak coming, they say.  I ordered it more than two months ago!   Gardiner-Westcott has a new stainless steel / chrome fastener set that will go on. Tune trapper antenna and Hawg tunes system.  WTS fitted a perfect curved licence frame from Kuryakyn.  All that should keep me busy for a while.  I'm happy with the seat and ergonomics though I liked your Badlander.  Maybe I'll do a rider's backrest for the long trips....

How is yours?  I've only seen one silver in person and thought it was beautiful.  Pictures do not do it justice!  I know you did the Super SERT and slip on Rineharts and were not too pleased with the paint.  I could not help but smile about your SE Ultra side cover.  My paint is great and so are the others I've seen in person, so very sorry about that.  Have you tried a color sand?  Enjoy!!  Maybe some day we'll get to ride them together....

Hey Greg what kind of tune are you using?    BLW

I have a service guy at the local dealer who has done very well for me.  The dealer is also very involved in racing.  They use something like the SERT but won't say exactly what it is.  I think it's a modified SERT.  They say same result but not traceable to void warranty.   We'll see....  I'll post numbers next week.  Frankly, with the fullsac cores and no cat, the SERG runs great and not too loud.  If it had not been for the CVO Harley folks, I'd be happy now!   :huepfenjump3:    :huepfenjump3:    :huepfenjump3:

Your mods sound great.  I may copy you with the Kurayakyn curved license plate frame.  That's a little detail that could probably make a huge difference on the appearance of the rear fender.

Your riding experience sounds like mine.  It's a fun, firm ride and easier to manage than you'd imagine considering the weight. My badlander seat is nice from an appearance standpoint but not very comfortable on a long ride.  I did some color sanding which helped the paint appearance immensely.  I'm going to put the Rinehart True Dual System on this winter (as soon as its available) and the chooped tour pack.  I was thinking about The Heavy Breather as well.  I really like the way it looks.  I'm trying to arrange a trip out to CA in February and doing a ride from San Diego to SF.  If that happens, I'll send you a note and maybe we can get together for a ride

Please do on the Kuryakyn.  I still have a credit at my dealer and have asked them to get me one.  There's  a good thread on the true dual set up.   http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=29361.0  Most of the "authorities" do not recommend it unless you've had your heads done, etc.  They do look great but I like the look of the stock exhaust and it sounds great since I did the cat and cores.

Definitely let me know if you're out this way!!  We'll get to ride and take some pics.

2 things....  No the original windshield gassket will not work on the KW or anything else for that matter!  You will have to get a regular RG gasket.

....  BIGGS HD in San Marcos, Ca has a yellow one with no one's name on it.  MikeD, The eagle on the yellow is Gold just like the rest of the stripes.  And it goes really well with the yellow.  On the front fender the tip of the point is gold and starts to fade to the yellow with the gold stripes going aft.  It is more pronounced than on the silver one.  The silver stripe with the ghost feathers is more prominent.  For yellow it is extremely attractive...Hell, I might have to buy a second one....... :-*

Not anymore, I bought it. I tried 2 other dealers that had yellow ones in stock. Skip4Dice wanted $2,500 over, I said no way, it was gone the next day. Laidlaws had one.(where I bought my last bike) I drove down there and they wouldn't budge at $4,000. over MSRP. I drove to Bigg's & paid MSRP. I still cant stop smiling, I love this bike.
