Just wondering what the rest of you have paid for the first service and if there were any unexpected charges. I picked up my SERG a few days ago after the 1600km (1000M) service. The charge was $385 Canadian( $330 US). Is this about the going rate. Also I was charged for some seals (behind the air filter and on the clutch). It was only a few $$ but shouldn't all that be covered under the warranty?
I would expect that you would be charged for 3 O-rings for the drain plugs, a gasket for the clutch inspection cover, an oil filter, and several quarts of fluid. The clutch inspection (derby) cover gasket really doesn't need to be changed each time you change primary oil if you're careful and don't damage it, but most dealerships will in fact change it automatically. If you do your own changes in the future, you probably won't need that gasket. I have no idea what seal they would be changing behind the air filter. As far as I know, there is no reason to remove the filter at 1k miles unless there was an unusually heavy dust storm in the shipping crate.

When I stop at dealerships I usually look at their service price boards, and what I've seen indicates that most dealers in this area seem to be in the $300 - $400 USD range for the 1k service. I've also noticed that most places haven't adjusted their prices downward after Harley reduced the maintenance requirements. For instance, there is no longer a primary chain adjustment, and the primary and trans fluid change intervals have been extended after the initial change at 1k. I'm sure that is just an oversight and most dealers will be adjusting their prices downward when they figure it out.
