This guy hit the nail on the head! I see NOTHING they've done to insure these motors are any better than when first introduced. They made a stronger bandaid for em, is the way I see it. FTF!!! FTW!!! and FTD!!! ;)

Many knew that when the EPA announced the new regs two years ago that it would be a problem. Moco said that they would meet the new emissions regs. w/o water cooling. What they didn't say was the end product and user would suffer. D.C. continues to screw us and we just take it and then complain after the fact.

No one expected to see any 110 over heating at Milwaukee.  The Mo Co came up with the "Parade Mode" to avoid any embarrassment during the show.

The moco IMHO has done a pretty good job of keeping up with the times here lately. I mean lets face it in the last ten years they have increased their max displacement 30 cubic inches from the factory!!!! They have done a much better job at giving the customer what they want from the factory(all while maintaing the best marketing strategy on the planet making you want more) Plus they have been able to do this and keep the Chit EPA compliant. Witch is amazing in itself without going liquid cooled.  Do the 110"s run too hot- HELL YES, CAN THEY BE FIXED, HELL YES and the factory knows you will fix it and have a non-EPA compliant bike. BUT atleast they offered you the platform in order to do so. So in fact they are trying to skirt the laws to help us out I say give em a break. They have been in business for 105 years and haven't sold out to some foreiegn investers so I am gladly going to keep buying their products

Just my .02cents.

Right on with the moco and what they have tried to do in the last 10 years.... Rather than complain about chit... You have alternatives,, they are called, Honda, kawasaki, yamaha,,,,, go complain to them if you do not like the HD products.

hey louie...wtf...you work for the company or something?  yes, the motor company makes more dollars per unit on the CVO than on the regular bikes...on a percentage basis it is slightly more, but on a dollar basis it is significant...and yes, many people are having issues with these bikes.  the motor company would not come out with a product upgrade for no reason at all...you see the heat shields on the 2009's...guess what, they are not there for looks.  the damn bikes run hotter than they should.  you see the revised exhaust routing...well it too is to keep the heat from the rider and passenger...harley does not have it right yet...and with the examples of engineering they have shown so far they may never get it right...I love Harleys and mine in particular but it is far from perfect and the only way it will ever change is if those of us that are providing the motor company with our hard earned dollars through the purchase of their products let them know how we feel...
No need to get aggressive in the first place. How come you know about percentages and margins? And do not mix the two issues a.) profit b.) unsatisfactory engineering. I am with you regarding the heat and all engine issues. Oh, and by the way have you had any trouble with your E-Glide after the heads have been done the second time? And, unless proven wrong by facts, I still maintain that the profitability could be higher on a stock bone E-Glide, than on a CVO. Just look at the average cost of factory accessories people buy for a stock bike.

The general discussion is mute anyway. The engines are how they are and they run very hot. The solution, we all know it, is extra cooling. Either by adding oil cooling to the heads, or water cooling to the heads or to the cylinders. There you have it: Inevitably in the future people on this board will scream FTWC!

Oh, and I would like to know if there is anyone with a '09 Touring CVO having engine issues????

Ride safely,
Louis

Once I had a race tuner installed, gave my 07 SEUC a little more fuel and air, she ran great. I went to the 105th without any problems. I also removed my lowers. No heat problems. I prefer the bike without the lowers and I think it's better for the bike. Last month I had the 0905 campain completed, no problems since the repair. Going to keep this bike for a long time. Extended Warranty covers me until September 2013, why worry, just ride.
