Have a good friend that works at HPC. He started his Road King and left it idling while giving me a tour of the plant.

He did not have heat shields on his pipes, he coated his pipes black inside and out. After the tour, about 15 minutes, I put my hand on his pipe. Did not burn

I Thermal barrier coated the header pipes  the combustion chamber, and exhaust port on  my heads. I had to remap the PC. Made 5 hp more.

All of the NACSAR guys have it done in their motors. If you want more of a gain....solid dry film all the gears in the motor and transmission, valve springs, valve stems, cams and even all the bearings

Don't ask me how I know about this....OTIS

Thanks...I just want too do the D&D exhaust header, my right foot was hot and got hotter over 85 on the 1st longer ride yesterday...

What type of finish does the thermal barrier coating leave on the chrome exterior of headers/mufflers?

They have a chrome look if you want that color. It blends into the chrome heat shields very nicely. it does look alot better than the blued stock pipe under the shields

My buddy has his done in black with no heat shields. It looks real good.

I had the combustion chambers, valves and piston skirts coated when I did my motor build...but didn't know what it would look like on the exterior of the headers...

I hope the mufflers fits the 09..there is an indent in the stock muffler for the axle nut.
Anybody already try it on 09 bagger?
Of course they said it fits and it looks like it will, right up against the axle bolt. I'd hate to put the "extreme torque applicator" to it.  
I attached a picture of the stock muffler and the indent...

I had the pipes on my 04 SEEG done. They have over 20,000 miles on them and look like the day they were installed.

Even oven cleaner did not touch the coating like it did on the powder coat.
