I've been very happy with my 96" to 103" conversion on my 07 Road Glide. I've also had two CVO 103's and one of them is still running strong as a bull and solid as a swiss watch in Memphis. The other one died a premature death when I crashed the motorcycle it was in outside of Toronto in June of 05. The wreck was sold at auction and may still be running, I don't know. It was a solid engine that I put 22,000 miles on without a single problem. Anyway, on my 07 RG, I went with all H-D Screamin Eagle parts including the SERT and the older style SE Mufflers that are no longer available. The engine makes good strong useable, relable power. I know the quest for bigger better faster more is constant and hard to resist, but I'd have to see years of rock solid reports to recommend anything H-D makes larger than a 103. Once you get out into the aftermarket it's any man's game, but sticking strictly to H-D, I personally cannot overstate the case for going with a 103.
