To be honest I don't think we have seen the last of it. I think we will see another increase in the New Year
Rob

rganz,

You are correct, just heard from a HD Dealer I know he said to expect another price increase in the Spring.

Are you guys in the US getting any price increases?

Did you hear how much. I have heard rumblings of another 10,  near 20% in total--including the 10% in December.
That added about 7 grand to the price of SERG that I got in November.  $35,000.00 sounds pretty good now. :nixweiss:
I am just thankful that I was able to take delivery early---mine was supposed to be in in April. (Found one in Saskatchewan that had a deal fall through) Needless to say that I dont need the one coming in the spring.

Man the dealers must be hating this --hard to maintain sales.

Rob,

No, I do not Know the potential % price increase.

I was contemplating buying an 04 SERG back in Oct. - Nov., the ones that were not spoken for the dealers in Calgary wanted $2,000 - $3,000 over MSRP which I was not prepared to pay. started lloking to the US saw some bikes on eBay and around some of the Florida Dealers, they also wanted way to much, especially with the $ CDN going into the crapper.

I think I will wait till March/April and keep an eye on the US market as it still may have not picked up by then.

I am wondering if Harley US which dictated pricing to Deeley in Canada thinks they can make up for lost sales in the depressed US market by trying to get more money for the bikes they export to Canada. Somebody better enlighten their Marketing Dept. that parts of the Canadian economy are also going in the tank.

Rob,

Your 10% price increase was a good one, he also thinks the Spring Increase will be 10%, all depends where the CDN $ is headed.

His other comments where they are 15% over last years sales. Of course all SERGs are sold and also all of the baggers are selling really well. Slow sales VRods and Buells except for the Buell 1125s which are also doing well.

Hey Leo, how's it going, eh? Do you think Harley has any influence on what Deeley does? Not likely. They're charging Grant an extra $5000 freight on the new trikes because they have them crated (apparently they don't crate 'em in the US).  He offered to run his big trailer down & pick up 15 - 20 at a time & distribute them to all the dealers in the west - they turned him down.

I also heard that they were pushing more bikes North because they are still selling in Canada. The international market has outsold the domestic market for a while now.  A increase in the 20 percent range will certainly take its toll.
I think it is just a correction back to the prices we were paying over the last few years. Those who purchased bikes over the last year will be happy to see they did so. On the upside this also drives up the resale for these same (used) bikes by the same percentage.

Hmmm my fatboy just appreciated by $3000.00 and my old Sportster went up 2 Grand (Nice)

I was at HD Edmonton last week and I had an opportunity to see the new price that the salesmen carry around. Too many numbers to retain, but effective 1 Dec 2008 the 2009 CVO SERG is now $40,990 plus PDI. That's a $3,500 increase since I picked up mine in October. They didn't / couldn't comment on a further increase in the spring, but since they are selling the bikes Why Not?

Talking with my guy, HD Canada will see another price increase in the 10% range unless the exchange rate gets better...
Sagging economy and an increase in MSRP.....Only Mother Harley could get away with that!!

The next price increase won't affect CVO's because they will all be gone by then.

I was also told that the price is tied into the production date and that you cannot secure a price by ordering it today if production is in May.

Uh, not so fast...

In Southern Ontario there are still some CVO's available and as of March 1st the current MSRP's are as follows:

      2009

SEUC - $45,149
SERG - $39,419
SESS - $34,339
SEDFB - $32,179

Just thought that I should bring everyone up-to-date on our very expensive CND market price.

I Just got an email from a fellow in BC. Says because the Canadian dollar is on the slide that bike prices for us Canucks are on the rise, maybe even as much as 20%. That means The SERG I bought for $34,000 will now be $6800 more. And a CVO Ultra will be more than $50,000. And of course all those other shinies we need will cost more.

Anyone have information on this?

A lot depends on the people you are dealing with.  I traded my old bike in November, as a deposit for an April delivery of my new SERG.  Since then, dealers have raised the price twice that I can see... but my dealer in Barrie has honoured the original deal-price I traded for in November.  It's still not cheap, but 5 or 6K less than prices now.  I'm still awaiting deliver for approx. April 1st, or the 1st warm day after...
