Class is different than manufacturing floor...again, some LEAN processes are good...but again, it is to deliver just enough to pass...overbuilding is excess and is a LEAN no-no.

Bill, if they sell performance parts to use on this platform (which they clearly do), it's not over-building. It's strictly under-engineering and poor quality control. This clearly would show their lack of concern for their customers!!! No other way to look at it!!! Could be case of pure corporate greed and allowing them to use us as just that, pawns!!! Like SB said once about Mick, they're using us as their patsies! FTF!!! ;)

That's all well and good. But when I own it, I should be able to do what I want with it. As long as I say FTW!!! Let's see here. You buy somthing that's got no room in it to do anything more with it than the way it was designed, even though you've had many options in the past. You have to figure out on your own that they changed the rules. But while they're quietly doing that, they locked the whole bike up in patents, preventing you from doing what you've always done to your bikes in the past!!! The greedy bastards want IT ALL!!! Well F them. They can't have it ALL!!! They don't start coming clean, they'll start seeing the beginning of the end!!! And it  couldn't happen to a nicer group of greedy corporate assholes!!! ;)

Tell us whats really on your mind Howie.
There was a day we could ramp up these motors and they would last.
Yea, you had to freshen them up every few thousand miles, but the bottom end and cases held up.
You have all the reason in the world to be F@@KEN PISSED OFF.

I want to build mine up when they do the recall.
But I am scared to death it will let go.
I also thought I was buying a high performance bike.
To me, these bikes where put together for low mileage riders. The look good, you can say (I HAVE A CVO HARLEY), but what ever you do, don't run it hard or try to build the motor, 96hp will have to be good enough. Forget the fact that the regular bikes have as much power with a smaller motor.
So what did we buy for 40,000.
No heat grips, leaking heads, hot motor, noisy trans, wobbling front wheel, bad paint, substandard powder coat(NEED I GO ON)
Howie, to be honest, I think we got a hell of a deal.
If you believe that, I want to sell ya some swamp land in OHIO.   LMAO

If not, maybe converting the entire drivetrain to pre-'06 is the answer.

Howie, I think your on to something there. My 03 113 is ridden hard everytime I'm on it and no failures like this.  I know it not the same as a 110 but the cases are still  twin cam and IMO they are stronger or better than the new pos's.   They sell you the off road race parts WTF do they think your going to bolt them onto other than the H-D cases you got with your bike. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT. sorry for yelling but WTF>  Derek

I'll tell ya. I did the cams & heads on my bike & that's as far as I will go. Too many issues & complaints telling me I should go no farther. For  my Next bike I am going to buy a stock 96" or whatever is stock in a few years & yank it & go with a big inch complete swap before any miles are on it with whatever manufacturer is deemed to be the most reliable. I think that is the ONLY way we are going to be able to get reliable BIG INCH power out of an American V Twin. I'll then unload the stocker which should pay for  half of the big incher. THE MUFFMAN

The 'Ole Gray Mayor ain't what she used to be and never will. If ya wanna do it right, start from ground up  ??? and don't depend on mother Harley...I don't understand why they sell pages of performance parts and their engines can't even tolerate the their own upgrades. I call em Mother somthen else  :huepfenlol2:

Guys,
I just read all your posts on this subject, and am in total agreement. I live very close
to the engine plant here in Menomonee Falls, and have some good friend that work on the line.
They tell me all the time, that the NEW, YOUNG engineers, are on there as____s, all the time
for more, more, more. I know of a guy who pulled out his 88 twin cam, and put in a S&S 124.
That engine has come apart 3 times. He is greatful he had an extended warranty. I would
take that engine off the list, for replacements also.

Just a comment, do you think if people went to Polaris (Victory), the company
may take a look at what there making???
