You got the warranty right?

If not go back and get it.....

You can get the extended warranty anytime before your 2 yr expires. If anything other than keeping it stock it can be an issue, especially if your on the road. I bought it with mine but was ignorant to what it covered with my mods. Actually, my dealer told me it would be covered, meaning at their dealership. Then you always run into the mechanic problem a lot of dealers have. To do it over again, not sure if I would get it.  :nixweiss:

Back to the original topic. And this is really my favorite:

Has anyone had any mechanical issues with an '09 CVO Touring bike?

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: I know, peeling paint and a wrong cover sucks, but the mechanical issues are the ones that keep you from riding.

My 09 USE4 has never been able to find a satelite...meaning the gps has never worked.  My dealer is fantastic and is taking care to make sure he gets all possible problem parts in stock before he takes the thing apart so we are only going in to do the repairs one time.

In the tech's conversation with the MOCO my bike is not the first, and apparently they think it is not just a gps problem but a radio problem as well.
Radio works great but it sounds like they may be replacing both.

Kickstand leans to far...see those posts here and you will be filled in on that.

1900 miles so far and the only other problem is it is too dam# cold to ride here in Chicago.

After a week of staring at the bike in the garage I was finally was able to take the new Ruby out for a ride.  I / We put on 750 miles this weekend.

Concerns:
Major:
I have really bad piston slap from 2800 - 3500 rpm's.  (Dealer item)  Most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd gear.  Then in 5th gear you know you are in 5th gear because of the howl/singing of the tranny.   :-\

Minor:
Fifth Gear whine Annoying as hell and very loud (hope to resolve with changing fluids)
XM goes in an out a lot, more out than in.  (will try to reconnect it and reposition it under the fairing first.)

Things to cheer about:

No leaks thus far

Comparing to the 07 O/B

Likes:

Bike handles better,
Accelerates better after you get past the fbw lag,
bike corners a lot better,
larger tour pak is a plus.
Seat is huge improvement

dislikes:
32 - 35 mpg thus far (hoping this is resolved with more miles and break in)
engine is still really hot.   (have not put on Mastertune or slip ons)  ironing out any bugs first and waiting to see what pipes end up being available vs. just slip ons.
fly by wire lag

On this flagship bike I figure the following are why arent they on the bike type of items:
(I know it is because they want you to spend more, but these seem mostly like no brainers.

Led in the rack
choice of highway peg arms factory ones dont cut it
Chromed front motor mount
Sheaths for the front oil cooler hoses
Chrome Starter
Oil Temperature Gauge in the dash
Workable Bluetooth for the bike
All in one Fob, locking mechanism (not 2 items)

Your bike does NOT have an oil pressure gauge ??  My 07 has one.

Chip curious what you think it might be, kind of scary noise.

As far as the fly by wire I will fix the lag, but it is annoying, and yes I know I can fix it and how to do it, just pointing out what people might run into is all.   Mastertune and open air breather and either Full Sac baffles, Slip-ons or new pipes and remove the CC :)

Figuring the change of fluids would fix the transmission, but listing it anyhow its annoying.

Was trying to wait till 1000 mile service before doing anything  to this bike so that the bike can be looked at as it came from the factory, with the edition of some miles.

My Red/Maroon '09 CUSE was delivered last week.  I have the same GPS problem and it goes into the dealer for it in the morning.
Mine also had a problem with the clutch when I picked it up.  I had to pump it up to get enough release to keep the bike from wanting to creep at a light or to get the trans into neutral.  Turned out the fluid was contaminated with water.  A flush and bleed took care of it.

Get the extended warranty on the bike if you plan on keeping it more than 2 yrs. I just used my extended two days ago for a leaking fuel line and defective fuel gauge. It would have cost me over $400.00 out of pocket if I didn't have the extended which has a $50.00 deductible. They had to remove the entire fule tank and everything inside of it to repair the problems. There are way too many accessories on the CVO models to be cheap and NOT buy the warranty. Plus you can get the invaluable tire and wheel coverage for a little more. So far, my CVO has had the following repaired on it under warranty.

1. 110 motor replaced due to crank runout issue
2. Turn signal housings due to chrome paint peeling
3. Passing lamp switch
4. Heated grips
5. Saddle back electronic lock
6. HK Radio replaced (display problems)
7. Fuel gauge and sending unit inside tank

Well I'll have to stick with my original statement... I think that the warranty is worth it....
I'm only going to put pipes and a SERT on mine for now and some chrome extras (I've already started working on that)

If your going to go to 10.5:1 and put cams in it, I agree that the warranty is not going to cover your motor, but It will still cover the rest of the bike and may not be worth it....
I think the 110 has plenty of power with simply pipes and some ECM changes, this will decrease temp and increase performance enough for me so the warranty is worth it...

I only have a couple hundred miles on my SESS3 its getting cold and I'm always at work, but it makes my garage look good for now.....

BB,

Again with the hi jacking of a thread ...this keeps up I am gonna have to report you!  haha.

I expect the moderators keep a close eye on me already Harry.

At one time or another, I've insulted every one of them except Obi-Won.

But if it floats your boat then report away.  :) :) :) :) :) :)

You know you are going to give Obi-Won a complex if you don't include him.   No one likes to be left out ya know.
