Just guessing that the paint's right on the money, then, IMO, I like the silver trim ring much better than all red.

Not to get off topic but I have an extra of those vin protected hard to get silver 1550 trim ring.
Just sayin...

Especially when it takes all of five minutes to install.

Guess what I found out today?
To install a 5 minute air breather on a 09 SEUC you have to take the tank off.
No chit.
So much for 5 minutes.

Garage door would have been easier.

Chit like that pizzes me off. I was admiring the bikes today and then started following all the frickin wires and hoses and crap and wondered what the hell became of simplicity. Used to be. Now you need computers and internet and all that crap.  :soapbox:

Went to put on a battery tender yesterday and had to remove three wired up modules just to get to the battery and then forgot to turn off the dam siren. Criminey.

Thank you.

I feel better now.

You guys with new bikes have some really nice machines, and I mean that............BUT
then I read your stories, much like the two here, and I thank God for my resolve to stick with the older stuff.  They have a completely different set of challenges all their own, but removing a fuel tank to replace a breather and wrestling with electrical gizmos to wire up a battery tender pigtail would make me cuss like a grunt.   >:(  Last thing I need is more stress when I'm trying to slowly decompress..........BUT

We're all wired differently..........and I think a few of my wires were miswired.   :huepfenlol2:

The trims aren't only just SERG specific they're year specific too Chip.  Yours has a kind of engine turned aluminum look to it while the 2000s have this almost gunmetal silver colored background.  My original air cleaner trim piece has a few tiny dings from its years of service.  So I'd planned to order one to have as a spare.  Set it back for someday as lord knows how much longer they'll still be available.  Then saw these air cleaner covers and had to use it there.  So now I'll need a spare spare ??? .

And....  good grief....  Pull the tank to get at the air cleaner?  That's crazier than starting a website for a couple of SE Road Kings and having the whole world show up!

Belated edit: At least you don't have the fuel crossover to contend with.  But it's still nuts :confused5: :drink: !

Here's my redneck version of an air cleaner "upgrade".......that's right......cut the bottom out of an iron skillet that I picked up at a flea market.  Kinda gives the bike a nice attitude.

I dig the skillet.  But you really need a piece of braided line for that oil vent :2vrolijk_21: .

You can never have too much red.  Looks good.

Of course, you could take this project to another level by completing the paint on the breather to match the tank.  The dividing accent color swoosh and then the darker red below.  Just something for you to ponder during the winter.   ;)
