The real irony here is that we all know that the stage 1 modifications and a tune actually increase the life of the motors, mileage and power.
 :soapbox:

Ain't it the truth. I have also found a lot of this can be headed off by a good dealer. Everything I've had done on my SERK has had some warranty coverage by the MoCo as my dealer has gone to bat for me everytime! I've paid the difference of course. I've never done this much to a bike before and probly won't again. Just had to do it once!  :)

I did all these mods to my SERK with my eyes open. I know what I can expect and where I'm the one on the hook for it. They have always been very above board.

I'm on the hook for MY WHOLE BIKE, and feel a lot better about that than running their stock junk that kept leaving me stranded, and then stuck with inept dealers trying to fix it at HD's direction!!! They can take their 2-Year W.....ty and stick it up their collective @$$e$!!! Yeah, I'm on my own with it, just like all my other bikes, and don't miss factory coverage one friggin bit!!! STF!!! STD!!! STW!!! ;)

Maybe HD can use some of the bail out $$$$ they've petitioned for for all the extra w...anty work they've had to pay for in addition to an increase in their R&D budget .... to alleviate future unplanned expense  :nixweiss: :beatdeadhorse: :znothingfunny:

Just read part 3,  at the start he talks about getting a crosshatch pattern in the cylinders via boring or at least honing.  I've worked in and around machine shops most of my life and have never seen any crosshatch pattern generated by boring.  A boring pass or cut is performed in one direction only, much like cutting the outside diameter of a part if it were on the lathe.  The only way that I'm aware of creating a crosshatch pattern is by using a hone while moving the hone into and out of the bore being honed.  Also unlike what he says about the sunnen hone, it does not cut cylindrically on it's own but will follow the bore as it was machined.  It will remove any high spots but if the bore is out of round, it will provide a honed crosshatched finish which will be out of round.  I didn't read much beyond this because if he's wrong about this simple of a subject on honing, I didn't care anymore.

Part Four is out.  More contradictions even within the same paragraph.  He comments on the present gasket being the -07A and that ithere will probably be a -07C.  Discovers the rthe spiny cylinder lock doesn't go up as far to the yop of the cylinder as previous TC 88 cylinders.  Admits this top portion is growing and that multi layer gaskets can't handle anything but a perfectly flat surface.  He evens explains the different grit od sandpaper scratches :(.
He talked about parade duty lowering RPMs and that blipping the throttle is bad.  Never mentioned EITMS.  He said the the HD narrow band o2 sensors can handle most performance modifications.

Holding out breath for part V, the fix

He should run for political office.

here's a classic quote:
There was a missing clue.  My TC 103 has the same liner thickness as the CVO 110.  It is subjected to similar heat in the rear cylinder; perhaps more because I increased the compression ratio to 10.5:1 which is moe than a CVO 110 's 9.3:1 ratio.  Actually there wasn't more heat because I also installed dual Jagg 10 core oil coolers and made some fuel mixture modifications"

Sometimes I start to say something dumb like this and then don't say it.  He must be paid by the word.  He puts his ramblings and passing thoughts in writing.  Like posting on a forum.  :), but we don't get paid.

Glad I did not waste my money buy the mag, but do appreciate the commentary on the article, which is less than it appeared to be from the outset.
