FYI follow up on getting D&D maps,

I spoke to the R&D guy at D&D and he is sending me replacment mufflers for my performance mufflers and not maps.

Your quote,

"I haven't gotten anywhere on getting the maps from them as they say the kid they fired has all of them and the data since he was rebuilding the web site. "

Damn Unbalanced....I just ordered mine today with the performace baffle as recommeded by the D&D person ( I don't reall his name).

Are you saying he was full of it and i should of gone with the standard baffle????

Is the performance baffle just louder, or is there some loss of power for us [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The kids name was Robert and well they are having to fix a lot of issues that he caused as they tell it.   Apparently he had everyone buying this baffle to listen to them tell it he was the tech they just fired about a week ago.  The same kid that has all the Race Tuner maps.   The R&D guy called it a race application use only.   Apparently it is very hard to tune with this pipe as there isnt much back pressure.   He said it was only for someone who did nothing but full twist of the throttle all the time.   He specifically asked me if I was using the bike to cruise and when I said yes he got really quiet then let me know he would have to talk to the sales people to get me the right mufflers.

If you have this muffler coming stop it if you can and just get the normal one.   You can look at this one and tell there isnt any back pressure.   You can look straight up it ... and see the entire length of the pipe.   I am quite sure if its to late that you can easily have them send you a correct muffler and not just the baffle and make it right they were easy to deal with in my situation i just guaranteed the return of the ones I got originally with a credit card.

Good Luck straightening out .. better to do it now than later though.

That's crazy!
Best that I can tell the D&D stuff is fine equipment, but the customer service
apparently sucks.
That's a shame!  [smiley=furious.gif]

Was hoping to see some big #'s from JC's bike with the D&D's. [smiley=cry2.gif]

Anyone know if the pipe will fit the 06 SEU?

I talked with D&D and they havent tested it on the 06 and couldnt tell me if it would fit or not. They did say they didnt have a map yet as they havent got an 06 bike yet. I talked with freedom pipes also and they dont have a 06 map yet either...and Brad at Freedom said they were definitly different.

Erniezap,

Any idea what the numbers are if run under SAE / with limited smoothing ?   STD generally is a bit higher and looks good, but for sake of consistency in comparison any chance you could post an SAE run with a air/fuel curve?

I have the D&D fat cats and checked with D&D today to find out if they were the performance or reg baffles and apparently they are the regular kind which is what the Zippers Maps I have are made for.  Would not really want louder pipes as they are already quite a bit louder than the V&H pro pipe and the rineharts and I do have neighbors who have been real nice about me firing it up at 630 am and taking off each morning.  I also like the tunes and would not want to drown them out any more than they are now.  I had funky dyno results which zippers thinks and I now believe is a result of the bike not being warm and I am ashamed that I have not taken the time to go get it done again to set the record straight.  The bike runs great though and clearly does not pop at all on decell ever, the thing is very quick by the seat of the pants and clearly faster than two high compression hopped up 95s that I ride with.  I really like the sound every where but at idle where the rineharts just sound friggin great.  I did not get the ghost pipe as I have this weird thing about fake stuff but it probably would make the sled look more traditional bagger to me.  I paid 520 plus shipping for mine and could probably do a little better if I has not previously ordered the Rineharts and wanted to switch after I had paid for them.  Just another info dump for those considering these pipes.  JP [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]

Well i got lucky and caught my order before it went out and had it changed to the standard baffle. The people at AMS are really helpful and seemed almost more knowledgable then the D&D staff..... [smiley=banana.gif]

I have had the Fat Cat since April 2004 in my 2004 SE EGlide, Performance Baffle, Hi Flow Air Cleaner, HD Race Tuner.  I have a very nice flat a/f ratio around 13.5, max hp 99.5, max tq 100.  The temp at the time of tune was 87 degrees and very humid, not the best for attaining great numbers.  The tq line is pretty flat with no dips from 2600rpm to 5000rpm.  I told the dyno tech I was not interested in peak numbers but fairly good fuel economy first, performance second.  The maps that D&D sent me were supposed to be good for performance and rated 104hp/107tq.  Again, this is for the HD Race tuner.  I put that map in and sucked fuel at an alarming rate, checked plugs and it was way rich.  The first dyno run with the D&D map was 92hp and a/f was all over the place with a low reading of 8 (very rich) and a hi of 12.  Keep in mind, the temperature, humidity, and elevation are of course different for each of us and cause diffferent results.  Also dynos can varry between locations.  I was told by then tech (Donnie) that the 103 motors responded better to the performance baffle but the torque curve would come in about 500rpm higher than the regular baffle.  It would perform better on the top end though.  So, am I happy, yes, runs great, can pull the wheel power shifting into 2nd.  Fuel economy, just ran 34-38mpg on freeway, average speed was 80-85mph.  I purchased my set, (ghost pipe as well)  from PARTS 4-11 at a discount as advised from D&D.  Only had one problem, pipe cracked at the bracket that holds ghost pipe to mount , removed it and welded it again with no problem and its not visible.  I am curious if the baffle choice was correct after reading all your post.  Peak numbers are only good for racing and bragging, real performance and fuel economy were more important to me.  Lots of comments on great looks and the distinctive raspy sound.  Yep, its loud when ya turn the wick!  I have attached the dnyo, red is D&D Map and Blue is tuned by dyno tech.

O.K. I am ready to make my move on exhaust and now I really don't know which way to go.

Unbalanced, have you done any more testing?

Has anybody else heard of the D&D cracking?  I don't want an exhaust that I'm going to have to turn around and weld........I'll just keep my Vance & Hines Pro Pipe if that's the case.

Also, strongly considering the Thunderheader with the dummy left side.  Anybody else have that set up?

103 Eagle,

I will be well pleased to get a torque curve like that out of my D&D fatcats...thats what I am hoping for and why I bought the 2-1.
