Just wondering if there are /were any issues with the CVO 's  with finding neutral when things get hot. I purchased a 09 SERG a month ago and have not had a chance to put any mile on it due to snow and cold weather so I really haven't had a chance to try out my bike  yet.
I have a 08 fatboy that was impossible to get into neutral if the bike got hot during heavy traffic or a parade when the temp was high. Is this common or just a issue with my fatty or does it show up in the cvo world too.
BTW anyone know what causes it?

Rob

My 07 gets a case of shovelhead every so often. I'll go up and down, up and down between 1st and 2nd hunting for neutral. Then sometimes I'll downshift coming to a stop and it'll put itself in neutral. The funny thing is, it doesn't bother me. It's about the only thing on my bike I can complain about so as such it's become this bike's "personality" issue   :D

Running Mobil 1 V-Twin in all three holes on both Gary...

You remember or did you notice a difference when you switched to Mobil from the OEM fluids?

Can't speak for Red Gar, but I'm running AMSOIL as I always do and it doesn't make a difference. This problem is related to how the gears are cut. I expect, I've got a small burr somewhere that gets hung up on occasion. As noted before, it doesn't bother me so I'm not going to pull my tranny apart and inspect every gear to figure it out.

To be honest Gary, I can't remember there ever being a noticeable problem issue with finding neutral.  But like Brian, when it does happen, I don't think anything about it.  It's just kind of like a normal thing that a Harley does.  Every HD bike I've owned has occassionally had a problem finding neutral.

I went for several thousand miles on the OEM fluids before switching to Redline and noticed a difference. Not to argue what you mention about the cut of the gears but I think a good gear/tranny lubricant can make a little difference. :nixweiss: Like you if that's all I have to worry about on my bike I'll accept that as part of it's personality...... after all it's putting up with "me" riding it. ;) ;D

Actually had a window of opportunity today and did some of that. Was 50+ degrees here, sunny, no wind so I took off for a couple hours riding some country roads. :2vrolijk_21: Now it's time for football, food, and refreshments. :2vrolijk_21: :orange: :mango: :bananarock:
