This is my second CVO and yes it does have its issues, but it just may be the best bike the motor company has built. I also agree with others who  have issues, They have just not spent enough time in the saddle of a Knuckle, Pan, or even the Shovel. Now with those bikes there were issues. But they were at least Harley Davidsons......

I love the way i feel when i first get on her and pull on to the street and roll thru the gears, nothing but smiles !! I love that sense of appreciation when i kick down the stand and thank her for another great day. The comradery that comes with ownership,  You can leave out alone for a simple ride and pick up a pack of new friends and a whole adventure with just a stop for gas. Thanks MOCO YOU ROCK ! and what you guys said too. :2vrolijk_21:

sleepybear has that right. occasionally somebody needs to put all these "problems" in perspective.

with a shovel/ iron sportster etc - ALWAYS have a small vice grip, file, screwdriver, spare points, spare condenser, small bit of chain, punch, couple of master links. - or lots of cash for the tow truck...

the vice grip is for when a cable would break - you use the file to cut a groove in the cable housing, break off a inch or two of housing, then thread the cable through whatever end was broken and clamp the vice grip on - voila good to go - takes about 20 mins of serious hard work.

then there is ignition failures... and then there are chain failures.

riding into alb from sak, in 82 or so,  in pouring rain at 110kmh or so - washed out the chain - got to calgary to the hd dealer - didnt have ONE roller left on the chain, hung down 4". ONE trip from or, to co, to mn, to man, to bc to or - 3 chains two sets of tires - three sets of points, several oil changes, one fuel line, one fuel filter, headlight bulb, entire tail light - left it somewhere in co never to be found.. redid heads and rings that winter - next year was the south - redid heads and crank that winter - next year was to midwest - redid trans, forks, etc & new valves again.

all the whining i read - get real.. its just soooooooooooo g(*d*&^% whimpy.

my current bike in its worst day is so way cool and reliable. its just plain majic - get on, push button, ride to whereever... puts a smile on my face every day.

hell, even a oil leak just makes a mess - put in oil and go - whats the big deal & who cares as long as it runs right. the chain oiler on a shovel put out more oil than the "horrible" pics of oil leaks on heads... have any of you ever been in the back of the pack that had a few flatties in it????? - total loss oil - drip out the bottom - there would be a 8 or 10" wide lane of dry to ride in - look at a pair of nice legs on the side of the road and go sliding.. left turns were always dodgy - the chain oiler kept the left side of the tire a touch wet at times... and then when it rained.. the first 5 mins was exciting.

i just dont get it at all - the new hd's are just so cool, so reliable, so fast.. what is all the whining about? im confused.

I'm right there with you TO.  But, even though I'm still amazed that my present scooters have magic buttons and only leak occasionally.....we still find things to have issues with......and complain.  But it's cause we're always raising the bar just as the MoCo has done.  Ride with a smile while you can.  :) har!  :drink: spyder

Great thread!  Thanks for all the positive vibes!

My CVO grabbed me when I walked beside her that first day at the dealer.  I was looking for a Road Glide and knew very little about CVOs.  I still feel that same way every time I pull off the cover in my garage.  Never one second's regret.

Can't begin to explain it.  You would think a 53 year old man would know better!

What I especially like is that thing on the right near my hand, when I twist it hard, I go REAL FAST.

  • Looks -best looking bike I've owned
  • True cruise control that works great - really makes riding simple
Handy luggage space - tour pak is nice
Heated grips and seat, makes cold weather touring comfortable

Now if I could just find a woman that's as reliable and relaxing to be around as my CVO is.  Wouldn't it be awesome to find a woman that everytime you found a problem with her, you could just get on a forum and find out how to fix her, or find suggestions on how to make her look better?  You even have the option of doing it yourself or rolling her into the dealer and picking her back up in a few hours, all polished and ready to ride.  Okay, I don't know where I'm going with this, but it's been said now and I can't take it back.

Dave, In response. there are women out there like that trust me. I have one. actually better than a CVO. Always shinny, never needs fixing, I don't have to do or schedule anything. things around here are magically done.
But, I will say that this ain't my first, or second, or third rodeo, and I have learned some valuable lessons in the past.

And expensive lessons at that.  Maybe I'm just better at picking out bikes than women.
