I'm new to this sight and have yet to intro myself. However, I have an 07 FXDSE, Sierra Red/Desert Black and love the ride. I knew there may be some growing pains buying a new model year(motor) so to speak and that's why I got the ext. warranty. I have the gasket repair waiting for me. I have 6k on the bike and no leaks of any kind. I'm also hesitant about getting the gaskets replaced because of the ole "if it ain't broke....  I've had my fair share of warranty work done which I don't need to express here. But, I like the bike and will work through anything that comes up or I will sell it.  What I won't do is mercilessly complain about problems that crop up because it's not worth it. If your Harley isn't working for ya, then I agree, sell it and move on!

Steve
We don't want to move on, nor are we going to move on!
We bitch an complain so other people will know our problems. Why, you may wounder.
The more of us that talk about the problems we are having with the bikes, the more we learn about how the are running.
You really are not paying attention to this site to make the comment you made.
We bitch about our bikes so that other people will not feel alone, and so we can all figure out how to fix them together, and what works and what does not work.
You saying you had problems (BUT WONT TALK ABOUT THEM HERE)           Then why the F&^K are you here, to talk down to the rest of us. >:(
Cause we all bitch at one time or another, and if you can't handle that, this may not be the place for you.
Just sayin

But you wouldn't really know that since ya never had one either. I've had my issues and would still do it again in a flash! You might have issues with the 110, you might not with these newer ones. Time will tell. But this chit ain't rocket science and the motors can be made OK. A built right 110 though is a GREAT riding motor, better than any 103 I've ridden. How many times does it take to get it OK? Depends on the parts and the builder. ;)

And what you want it to do.  If you want it to put out massive amounts of HP and torque it will do that, or if you like it the way it is and it does the job you want it to do, it's fine that way too.  I have no issues with my 110 and other than pipes and cleaner, it's stock.  It does what I want it to do, get me from point A to point B, with an enjoyable worry-free ride in the middle.  I'd put my stock 110 against any other motor, not for racing or go-fast, but for dependability any day.  Maybe I got lucky huh?  But I think there's more like me with 110's, the less vocal ones, then there are of the others.  It's not a bad engine, and mine is living proof.    I don't really know how anyone can slam something, if they've never had one and experienced what it can or can't do. Every motor the MoCo has ever built has had problems.  JMHO :nixweiss:

It's like all other things.
No one complains when all is well.
The thousands that are out doing well are just that, out doing well.
What would really be interesting would be a percentage number.
1%, 4%, 6%, 20% of 110's built have an issue?
Will we ever know?

Howie, you know that I wasn't talking about you.  :P   I know you have a 110, or at least at one time it was one, but with all you've done with it who knows it could be a stealth 145 now.  :huepfenlol2:.

I'd be interested to know too Chip.  Who knows it could be rediculously high, or middlin issues.  I know we're passionate about our beloved rides, that's why I usually don't stand up and say anything about the bitc*ing

I believe you nailed it Chip. I have talked with my dealer on a number of occassions. Yes my dealer. I trust these guys as they have been 100% honest with me on all dealings: cylinder liner movement, head gasket, etc. They have had two or three 110's with issues, mine being one of them. Since the late 08 and all 09, no one has had a problem related to the crank, cylinders or leaks. The motor ain't perfect but it can be made to be right with minimal effort or a lot if you want.

Merry Christmas to my CVO brothers and sisters. We should treat us other that way, with respect.

I just got back from my dealer from having the Rinehart's and power programmer installed.  As I've said before I didn't know about the 110 issues before buying the bike.  I found out by checking out this site.  The guys have been great at the dealer.  I asked them about these issues and if my 08 was part of the recall.  The sales manager and service manager both told me they knew of the issues and have had SE's in to fix these very issues.  They also told me they had already checked (before selling the bike) to see if it was part of the recall.  Thankfully, it was one of the last 08's SEUC to come off the line.  Long story short is that they reassured me that if anything goes wrong with the bike, bring it in and they will make it right.  This is why I traveled 2 hours from my home to buy this bike instead of 30 minutes down the road.  I won't buy oil at that dealership.  This dealer is truly customer oriented and have treated me like a king.

Buy the way...the Rinehart's sound great!  I can't ride the dang thing cause there's 2 inches of snow on the ground!!!

I didn't single him out because there was nothing in his post stating who should or shouldn't be here all he was offering was an opinion.

You too have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. :2vrolijk_21:
