Well I have heard about just about every cam manufacture but Red Shift Cams. I would look at the red Shift 557 in gear drive. A pretty good replacement for our stock 253.

Cam specs. 557 lift 242 duration intake 244 exhaust
Cam timing 20/191/42 intake    46/104/18 exhaust

Dawg or Unbalanced, have either of you heard if one of the Red Shift cams will be part of the Zippers "package" that's being considered for the 103?  Or are they looking at entirely new grinds?

Twolane it will be a red shift. I would think the stage 3 kit (if that is what they call it) will run the red shift 657. For low H/P and high TQ set up If they don't use a new grind I would think the red shift 557.

HD our stock heads are set up to handle 550 lift. I would put the 557 in my bike without any mods to my heads. I have talked to a few head guros about this. They say no problem. My plus heads are out being worked over right now and they will be set up for 650 lift and I am going to run the 657. So I would say yes.

Here's a link to the step by step basics of changing out the cam shoes, etc.
http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/camguidepage1.htm

Also, here's a link to the same site, but H-D bulletin on CVO cams work with  what valve springs and the full specs on CVO253 cams.
http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/hddiagrams/TT___Valve_Spring_and_Camshaft_Information.pdf
Basically the 203/204/211 & CVO253 cams work with the stock valve springs up to .550 lift/rev limited. Any more valve lift and you're into the SE 'racing'  valve spring categories of .575 lift/6500 rpm or .650 lift/7000 rpm. So, reliabilty and associated warranty costs, and then some increased performance seem to be the keys to use of CVO stock cams, much like the compression ratios.

CVOJOE great info!!!!!!

They list the stock springs set up for 550 lift and the factoey rev limit which I think was 5700 rpm. I do run mine to 6200 rpm and the limiter is set at 6400 on my bike. I have not had any issues with valve float. I guess over time they( the valve springs) might break. I would still run the red shift 557 with my stock heads and the limiter set where it is now if I wanted to change cams and not pull the heads!
