It finally arrived!!!! O/B 09 serg. Need some advice.
« on: January 01, 2009, 10:49:07 AM »

Well it finally arrived. But I havent brought her home yet due to moco sending some damaged parts, and their taking their sweet time sending new ones. Anyway, has anyone ever had or heard big city thunder baffles. They claim they have direct replacements for screamin eagle slip-ons. I like the way the stock pipes look verse aftermarkets, but I dont like the sound. I'm wanting to turn up the volume a little but prefer to leave the stock SE pipes on it. If anyone can send me some feedback I'd be greatfull. I'll post some pics soon as they get her back together.. Thanks... Doug

What was damaged?  Did the damage happen in transit or at the dealership?

Leave it alone for 10k. Have a factory authorized dealer do all the services and sign your owners manual.
Give the aftermaket time to play catch up to all the changes in the 09 models and ensure that your warranty stays in effect
This is what I'd do if I were lucky enough to afford a new 09 SERG

easier said then done. After riding mine the stock handle bars had to go...Seeing Isellbuls at hurst castle 4 month ago,at that time he said his bars were no problem for him.  Since then I,ve seen a post by Him and Jim about changing out bars to 8.5 chubbies I went 10.5  i wanted to stay stock that only lasted 3 weeks--AK

I used the COBRA slip on's with the 09 Super Race Tuner kit...not only do they sound great, they have a 4'' diameter with a chrome bevel. You can actually go to COBRA'S web site and click on the sound..Good Luck

I'm sorry Andy you are correct, the stock RG bars just don't cut it. I've got the 10.5's on LD same as you and they are perfect. Don't know what your 09 SERG seat is like, but I'm back to my stocker on LD. The Corbin is so hard my back spasms if I hit a mini pothole with the Corbin. The stocker soaks up most of it. Since I can't ride more than 200 miles a day anymore, the stocker is fine. Just want to have it recovered in real leather with some Gator inserts in flames. I was referring to motor/perforamce mods. I've been told these bikes run pretty sweet stock if a little quiet to be sure. I figure the aftermarket will have a ton of stuff for 09's in another 6 months. Don't know about you, but I HATE not having choices.

Thanks guy's. I am going to leave the stock pipes on due to the warranty issue, plus i've put the black blunt revolver end caps on them. love the way they look. What was damaged was a glove box lid and lower left fairing. no biggies but time consuming in waiting for the parts. Plus the tour pack hasen't arrived yet and the dealership says it could be as long as 3 to 5 months before it comes in. The big city thunder baffles I was asking about claims not to affect the warranty, but the dealership cant say either way. guess they just want to sell parts? Oh and buy the way if anyone is in east tenn on march 18 try to make it to kemmosabees road house for bike night. The band I play in will be playing that night. "Stompin' Ground", plus I'll have my baby there. So if you like southern rock just come on down... Doug

Hey Doug,  Good luck with your Serg, it's a sweet lookin ride.  Every time I visit the local dealer.  There are several people drolling over the one in the showroom.  I have to carry an towel to wipe of my shoes before I leave.  No room in my stable, so I will just appreciate yours.  Randy
