05 Tour Pack
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:55:43 AM »

Curious how many have bought the Kuryiakin (sp) 190.00 kit to move the seat back like 1 1/2 inches vs. those that left it where it is and those that just drilled their own new holes.

My wife would like some extra room between her and my back rest and I am still debating on what to do.   I am leaning towards drilling 4 new holes, but thought someone might have some other insight to this.

Thanks in advance,

Mr. WeCVO haha now thats funny she rides the pumpkin 04 SEEG.   She had ankle surgery and was looking at ways to make enough room so SHE is comfortable on the back.   She was spoiled with an ultra the last go around and she would like more room.   I was aware of both methods and was hoping there was another alternative since its short term till she is riding again :)

I'm going to ask a silly question.....

If you move the tou pack back 1.5 inches, doesn't that allow the passenger to sit on the back esge of the seat?? Seems like they would end up sitting in the new gap between the seat and tour pack...

Mr We hated the way my tour pak looked just kinda hanging out there with my solo seat, so he went out and purchased the relocater kit and moved the tour pak forward. It meant that I had to remove the chrome nostalgic rails.  With the stock passenger back rest on the tourpak, I am moved forward a lot. Not a bad thing.  I am not sure what I think of it all yet. Three rides so far - the first one I did not like it at all, the second it was not bad but not good either and yesterday was the third ride and I liked it. It is kinda hot on the back, but felt good.

The move forward leaves a lot of chrome hardware now no longer needed kinda just hanging out there under the tourpak.

Has anyone else moved their tour pak forward and what pad did you like best for the backrest? I will order the tan ostrich pad from corbin to match seat, if I decide to stay with the tour pak forward.

I am trying to go the further back not the other way and give her more room :*(

Was hoping someone saw some other fangled item that would do it vs. the cost of 190 bucks for something I can do with a drill and a bit of time.   I just hate drilling into the tour pack if it can be avoided have no fear though I have the drill bits if it comes down to it.

If it is only temporary, why not remove the tour pak for a few weeks.  I think our bikes came with a passenger back rest.

Just a thought.  I have never tried that back rest so don't know if it comfortable or not.

Awhile back I read some favorable comments on the Kuryakyn setup on the Delphi Electra Glide Garage forum.

Mine isnt screwed down in the holes its has that stock flat plate and the holes are to the left of it or where mine is screwed in from.   When I get home later tonight I will try and take a picture of it.   I will have to measure very carefully and then install / drill the new holes to gain any space.   I am kind of leery of doing this due to my installation doesnt match any of the others I have seen and it will require spot drilling to make the appropriate adjustments.

My buddy Phil even noted that his were in the other mounting holes.   I will probably not mess with though till next week as I am a bit more preoccupied Its always something.  I will try and post the picture later and maybe someone has some other ideas.
