Son of a bit.....   ooops, forgot what thread.  My bad.

Anyway, I'll be damned.  Old Town.  Been to the place.  Just didn't place the name until you mentioned it.  Have a firm recollection of significantly chowing down.
Havin chicken wings, and chili all the way wet at Hard Times Cafe in Old Town Alexandria will definitely be like chicken soup for the soul.
It is an inspirational experience.

Don, I'm glad you've been there, it is an experience in itself.
They cater to the drinking crowds, with some pretty exquisite choices of beer on tap, or anything else that strikes your fancy, and the bill for the food will leave you very pleasantly surprised.
Also inspirational.

So, I think that the fare at Hard Times Cafe in Old Town Alexandria will help us bring this topic back on topic.

Now, I am still not sure how this thread could be allowed on this board, but if it is going to be here, and it has changed from a cut and paste from other sources with absolutely no attribution (which is contrary to the rules for posting to this board) --- to a thread of humor, I'm starting to appreciate it's value.

Humor is good for the soul.

                                                     "Dying For Justice"

  Good morning friends,
Please read Deuteronomy 24:14-22

You shall remember
that you were a slave
in Egypt, and the Lord
your God redeemed
you from there.  Deuteronomy 24:18

Concern about justice for the oppressed is evident throughout scripture. It was especially clear when God established the rules for His covenant people after they were released from Egyptian bondage (Deuteronomy 24:18-22). Moses emphasized concern for the underprivileged (Exodus 22:22-27; 23:6-9; Leviticus 19:9-10). Repeatedly, the Israelites were reminded that they had been slaves in Egypt and should deal justly with the underprivileged in their community. They were to love strangers (aliens) because God loves them, and the Israelites had themselves been aliens in Egypt (Exodus 23:9; Leviticus 19:34; Deuteronomy 10:17-19). God desires that His people affirm the supreme worth of every indiviual by fighting against injustice.

Open my eyes, Lord, to people around me,
Help me to see them as You do above;
Give me the wisdom and strength to take action
So others may see the depth of Your love.

Standing for justice means fighting against injustice.

Have a Blessed Day!

Have you ever had the Mac and Cheese from Glory Days Grill??  Or ANYTHING from Dixie Bones in Woodbridge?

That is religious for me!

That is top of the list when we get back up there later this year.

Have to wonder if the babies in Psalm 137 would agree?

doubtful...

O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction,
happy is he who repays you
for what you have done to us-

9 he who seizes your infants
and dashes them against the rocks.

Yeah, I don't mind a little brains scrambled up with eggs for breakfast.  But not baby brains.  Yuck.

Yeah, if I'd have been bright enough to actually pay attention I'm sure I'd have scared chitless if I lived during the days of the Old Testament.

Because there is NOTHING funny about religion.  Just ask Mel Brooks or the Monty Python boys.

Butt it got me into good schools later in life...
