Sound level of Fullsac 2.25"s
« on: January 11, 2009, 12:17:09 PM »

Some time ago Jim K and some others posted sound levels of their Fullsac baffles.  Those were at the 1.75's.  I installed the 2.25's and thought that some of you would like the sound levels of those so we can compare.  I went out and got the same Radio Shack digital sound meter that Jim Kerr used in his so we have an apples to apples.  First of all the quality of the baffles is excellent and the sound is really awesome.  Very deep rumble with nice bark when you get on it, in the garage of course.  This little experiment was in my garage with the door open.  I placed the sound meter in various places, at various levels, both handheld and stationary.  The numbers below was holding the meter near the rear of the seat facing towards the back, simialr to the psotion in Jim's video.

In looking at one of Jim's post he stated that at idle - 100db, and at 2k - 103db and at 3k - 107db
I found that at idle - 106db, at 2k - 108db and at 3k - 113db.  Wow.  They rock.

I hope that this helps someone.  I love the sound.  I will know more once I can open er up.

This is crude at best and was taken with a Canon digital camera, so pic and sound quality just isnt there.  Anyway, I tried to show how the Hawg Wired set up sounds over the 2.25 Fullsacs.

I had the Rinehart TD's on my 08 RG.  I think that they are somewhat similar but the Fullsacs are a deeper growl, where the Rineharts were posibly a touch louder, but not much.  The Rineharts also got to a higher pitch when you got on it and I dont believe that that will happen as much with the Fullsacs.

Cool...that's just what my Fullsac 2.25's sound like.  As far as the noise level, with the bike in the garage and outside seem to be 2 entirely different levels.  I don't think that they are anywhere near that loud once you get them outside.  I do recognize the sound when they are in the garage.  I started mine up in the garage today, just to listen to it for a few minutes, as I watched the snow falling outside.

yes, cats were removed by dealer.

I agree that there is a sound difference listening to exhaust in the garage.  I didnt think that the sound meter would get different results, but I can see that happening.  If I can I will check with the sound meter outside.

That worked great!  My PC has a subwoofer and at idle my desk was rumbling!  I'm a fan of the Fullsacs and Hawgwired!

I installed the 2" Fullsac cores several months ago and I bought the 2.25" cores when they became available. I finally got around to installing them this weekend on my SERG. I thought the 2" cores sounded great, but I wanted a bit more rumble. After installing the 2.25" cores and performing the sound test in the garage, my wife told me that the glasses in the kitchen were rattling pretty good from the rumble of the exhaust...that is what I was looking for! I took the bike for a quick test ride and was very satisfied with the sound. The 2.25" cores are not obnoxiously loud and the rumbel at idle is similar to Reinharts. I didn't really have a chance to get on the throttle much, I'll save that for another day, but I do like the sound of the 2.25" better than the 2" cores since it has the deep rumble that I was looking for.

I have the Rienharts true duals and with the head work I did, they are obnoxiously load, they have made my ears ring…I would like to know if the Fullsac 2.5 cores would fit on the Reinhast headers.
