And once again, it's U.S. Scare... Always makes me nervous to fly that airline!

I, too, hope that no one here is affected by this, though it appears that everyone on board is safe.

Pilot's a hero! Felt the engine blow out, saw he was to low to get back, set himself up for an emergency landing, and executed it perfectly! He saved the lives of 152 people, very few with injuries!!! Here's to the pilot!!! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

The emergency response here in NYC is prolly second to none! They were at the scene in no time. Commercial ferry service was there first. People we standing on the wing and the ferry started rescuing people before even emergency crews arrived! I'm always so proud of how NY'ers react and respond to emergencies! We got some fine people in this town!!! :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Probably very lucky it happened where it did. NYC is prepared for anything, plus the ferries to help out.  50 miles north or south of there and they might have all frozen to death.

Got this from another site. When was the last time you heard of a commercial airline in the US going down and ALL survived? These pilots are heroes!

The news reported that the AB320 has a switch that, when activated by the pilot, will close all outside vents and openings.

just figured a water landing once the doors open it would be on borrowed time. guess it says alot as to how gently the pilot pout it down without ripping the bottom up

Also heard that the amount of fuel on board helped it stay afloat.

The way the landing was described, he layed that thing perfectly flat on the river and skidded the belly across the top of the river til it stopped. It stayed afloat cause he maintained the integrity of the fuselage. When they stopped, the crew redied for evacuation and many were led to the wings for the ferries to rescue them. This all occurred within the first 15 minutes of the emergency landing! Damn straight that pilot's a HERO!!! :2vrolijk_21:
