check that out a new player in town  V H

I believe that was a letter from someone at V&H that one of our members posted here for us to see.  I don't think that was someone from V&H joining the forum.  I will have to print that out for a friend of mine.  He just built his Ultra to a 113" and put their true duals on and I told him he was losing power, and he doesn't believe me.  I hate that every time I see something on the computer for him, I remember that he doesn't do the computer thing and has never used one.

I just sent them an e-mail to find out what kind of performance differences they are coming up with between the 2-1 and the 2-1-2 systems. :skull:

I just received an answer back from them already.

"A 2-1 is obviously the best performing pipe on the market for any motorcycle setup. However, If you do want to keep your "Dual" look then the Power Duals are definitely the way to go. They will help out with performance on the bottom end. Results have shown that with the Power Duals and Monster Oval Slip-ons combination will get about a 10% gains in both hp and tq. As you noted, The Dresser Duals (2-2) are not so much a performance oriented setup but will achieve the "True dual, dual cylinder" sound."

Of course, I wrote back again just now to ask if there would be any expected gain whatsoever from stock non-cat to their Power Duals.  Why do I feel that the people who should be in touch with this information (V&H) won't really know enough to give an honest answer to that question?  We may give these companies more credit than they deserve.  I have a feeling that all of us on this forum probably understand that question fully and the person I sent this to won't really understand what the question is really asking and I'll get a vague answer telling me some other small percentage gain, along with using their mufflers.

Well, I certainly got the vague answer I was expecting.  "the Power Duals will perform better than the stock headers and will have 220 degree pipe coverage heat shields."  I think I'll stick to the forum for questions.

Dropped mine off at Rod's Performance today.  Made one pull on the dyno for 88HP and 107 FT-LBS.  This all stock except for the 2.25 fullsac baffles.

Rod will be installing the Woods TW6-6 cam, Vance Hines Power Duals, and a Power Commander V.  I will have before and after dyno comparison of my upgrade next weekend.

Great choice of tuner and engine builder.  Did you say "Hello" to my Thumper for me while you were there?   :2vrolijk_21:

Don't know how well the new power chamber will work but I have used their true dual setup on previous rides. The sound is usually good and back firing on deceleration is eliminated but you do lose low end torque.

The true dual setup, at least the one I had from them, was all one pipe for each side.  With the power duals, I think, for the most part, your sound qualities are going to be controlled by the mufflers you use in conjunction with them.  As far as the power chamber goes, the setup is so close to what's on there stock that I can't imagine much of a difference from the non-cat stock pipes.  Per an answer to an e-mail from V&H, there should be a slight gain, but I don't know if I really believe that.

That's pretty impressive.  How about some pics with those Power Duals on there?  All the pics on the V&H website only show part of a bike with them on.  It would be nice to see what these things look like in a photo.  A graph of the dyno run wouldn't hurt either.  Enjoy the ride.

Did you do any other engine work besides the cam? Other than the headers, baffles and PC V.

I haven't picked the bike up yet.  When I get the bike I should be able to get some pics of the pipes and the dyno graph to post.

There are no other modifications than what I listed.
