Been riding through the Black Hills for the last two days
« on: January 21, 2009, 06:22:38 PM »

Yesterday I rode my bike and had lunch in Hill City at the Mangy Moose bar.  It was mid 60s.
Today I rode to Hot Springs and had lunch and a beer at the Winner's Circle.  -Rode back through Wind Cave and Custer State Park.  -Again over 60 degrees out.  -Put on about 80 miles or so today.
-Not too shabby for the middle of January.   :huepfenjump3:

Wow!!! Isn't that just a little abnormal for that area this time of the year?

I'm jealous as Heck Steve G..  Tired of the cold around here.  In December they predicted a mild January.   Even if it warmed up, it would take many rains to get all the crud washed off the roads to ride.     :soapbox:

You and me both!! Only good thing about having single digit weather is when it gets back up to 40/50 you think you're having a heat wave and want to go ride. :D :D

Made my first trip to Sturgis in 2008. I know the places you mentioned, Steve G.

I can't imagine it being that warm in SD this time of year, but I'm glad you got a mid-winter break!

Things have been mostly cold, wet and nasty around here since Thanksgiving. I've managed about 4-5 short rides since then. Tomorrow is going to be in the 40's and I guaran-damn-tee you that I'm gonna be on two wheels!

If it was 70 degrees here I would not be able to ride without being in a constant cloud of road salt.
Looong winter.
