Dan, can you sync your calendar & schedule with your PC? Can you have multiple schedules? i.e. one for work or for two people? The sync thing is most important for me. My secretary (Linda  ;D) can add appointment to the PC during the day and then I just download them when I get home. What about a program just to take notes? I'm looking for a new phone and am looking at all my options. I don't have a need for the pictures.

When I got all my e-mail work related stuff to work on the iPhone, the daily schedule/calendar comes through the iPhone automatically via the 3G network without being hooked hard wire into the PC.

I get my personal e-mails as well as my work e-mails and calendar events.  You can set up as many accounts as you want, Gmail, Yahoo, Charter, Comcast etc.  You just pick which account you want to open.  During the day when an e-mail is new, it gives you an alert and a number at the mail button.  You hit the mail button and pick the account with the number of e-mails shown to the right of each account.

When I'm at work I can log onto the wifi but I can't get work e-mails through our server, but on 3G they come right through.

If I open my personal account, Charter, via the iPhone, I can read and delete the e-mails without actually deleting them from the Charter server.  But when I'm reviewing my work e-mails, a delete and trash are just that.  I had my iPhone just a short time and I had been doing my personal stuff and then I logged onto my work account.  When finished I deleted all my daily e-mails and deleted the trash; thinking that they were still at work on my work server account.... Wrong.  All that day's e-mails were history.  You can setup how many you want your iPhone to review, like current 25, current 50 etc.  Most of my Outlook folder show up as well so I can sort and move an e-mail to the appropriate folder.

For Puzzled, when I got mine, the only place to get the iPhone was at an AT&T company store.  Now Best Buy has them and probably some of the other AT&T outlets, maybe even Walmart, wouldn't bet on it though.  Verizon does their own version of this I think with the LG or Samsung, not sure.

I do notice though that still with the AT&T service, either of my old phones, the Razr or the Sony, I had no dropped calls.  Now with the iPhone, I drop calls quite a bit.  I'm in metro St. Louis and I usually have 4 to 5 bars all the time.  Even when I drop a call, I'll have 4 or 5 bars at the time.  It's frustrating to say the least.

There are just so many options for contacts, multiple phone numbers, e-mail addresses from the contact list etc.  The only thing I really hate though is that it has a "Recent" folder for recent and missed calls.  On my old phones I could highlight any or just one of the numbers and delete it.  On the iPhone you can only delete them all or nothing.  Or at least that's all I've been able to do so far.

As far as battery goes, if you keep it just as a phone, I get a couple days of talk and standby.  If I play with the UTube button, the battery goes quite quickly.  UTube is a preloaded app and it's really great.  It does full screen video only so there is no other boarder graphics, just the video doing it's thing.  The search and bookmark is great.

The best free app I downloaded was Shazam.  This is the program that "listens" through the microphone to your radio and then compares the song to the iStore data base and then tells you what it is.  IF you want to purchase it, you can download it and pay for it over the iPhone and your Apple account.

Also, you use iTunes 8 or above to do all the music and video downloads to the iPhone, just like your iPod does.  I even have the new Mummy movie downloaded on the iPhone just to see how it works out.  With the Blu-Ray movie I bought, a licensed copy comes that you take from a second disc in the set and you give the password and iTunes store releases the code and the PC will then copy it to your iTunes folder on the PC.

As far as pictures go, you can just USB link it to the PC at work or home and it shows up as another drive on My Computer.  You can then click on the pictures in the iPhone and drag them to your hard drive or upload pictures to the iPhone.  So I have my vacation photos from Hawaii, my Willys build and show pictures, my '08 Sturgis pictures and all my new boardtrack pictures.  Even 3 mg pictures upload without issues.

Right now it tells me the Dow closed down -105.30.  Hog closed down at $12.40 a share losing $1.16 for the day.

I can play air hockey alone or with a partner, what fun...  I have my crazy "8" ball fortune teller and it says I may get lucky tonight if I get off the damn computer at work and get home...

After the first post and now this one, I have nothing more to add.

Just that I do really like the iPhone and it gets two thumbs up from me.

I thnk the i-phone is probably like the i-pod.  I had an mp3 player I liked.  My kids had i-pods and kept telling me I didn't know what I was missing.  I finally broke down and bought one, and they were right.

Everyone I know that has tried the i-phone would not use anything else.

If it wasn't for ATT, I would have one now.  I got in a pixxing match with them over long distance charges years ago, and swore I'd never use them again.  I'm hoping verizon will pick it up soon, but probably ATT is kicking back so much money to apple that they will never let go.

If you want a phone for the "fun" stuff than the iphone or Google G1 will do. Both are glorified MP3 players with a telephone and internet browser attached. If you need a more robust phone that can open documents and send files, you'll need a Blackberry or Palm.

Have you tested the paring to the Harley Bluetooth module? I tried the Palm Centro a few months ago and it was a no go with the HD Bluetooth. The pairing would be a priority on my upgrade list.

Haven't paired to Harley Bluetooth but have paired with many other pieces of electronics without 1 problem.

Could go on and on for quite some time in regards to the flexibility of this "smartphone". The list really is endless. Check out the info at apple.com/support and iphone.

In addition to the possible uses listed by Dan (excellent job Dan), I also use mine as a remote control for my iTunes thru my home theatre. In addition to that I use the Pandora App (internet music app) which I have found outstanding when used in conjunction with my Altec Lansing dock!!

Other than no SMS I am not sure it is missing the capability to do much else.  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: up here.

My wife and I both switched!!

Priority my a$$, It is a MUST. If a phone will not pair at all, there is no point in buying it for me. Now as we have discussed, my Treo pairs but I don't get the full phonebook. I can live with that but it must have some functionality with the HD Bluetooth module.

Thanks for the review... the Storm is on my maybe list... my LG NV is acting up.... too much in my chest pocket in the rain!

My wife, my girlfriend and I all had the LG NV. We all had lots of problems with them... batteries falling out... random shutting down... bluetooth stopped working. I traded my for the Motorola Q9c, since I've been a Windows Mobile junkie for several years.

I'm finding out that there aren't *any* cell phone out there that are tough enough to stand up to my usage. I'm just hard on them for whatever reason. P!$$*$ me off, too, since the full-featured phones are all so d@mned expensive any more.

I've taken a hard line against Blackberry's products because they aren't Windows Mobile-based. Maybe I should break down and try one when it's time to replace the Q (soon!)...

AJ, this iPhone will pair to anything. Check out this business testimonial (sales pitch). I really think it is worth a look (in the event that's not apparent). :huepfenjump3:

I went and looked at the Storm today and realized it is way more phone than I need (although I do like it and may end up with it anyway). I'm going back to the Verizon store to look at the LG Dare. I need some one knowledgeable from the Verizon store to explain the differences in these (all) phones to me as opposed to just trying to sell me a phone.

Verizon carrier
Good camera with zoom
QWERTY keyboard (touch screen preferred)
Internet access (can live with out attachment access)
Largest screen possible (eyes aren't what they once were)
Decent battery life.

I have both a Storm and an iPod Touch (iPhone without the phone). The iPod Touch is much easier to use. It has much better user friendly software. There really is no comparison. I would recommend the iPhone over the Storm.

I purchased my wife an iPhone over a year ago and I recently upgraded to a Blackberry World Edition (tried the Storm but the software seemed buggy). Blackberry's are better business devices (e-mail, attachment, real-time outlook synching) if your business supports them but you can't beat the iPhone's wow factor. Movies, music, WiFi (at home it becomes another computer), it even acts as a remote for my iTunes server. It is way easier to use and after learning how to touch type on screen, it ispretty good for data entry. The Apple Appstore is also a major plus with hundreds of cheap application to make it even more useful (I do not work for Apple).

Have yet to find the device that does everything. Thought the Storm might be it but I think it needs a generation to mature.

Mike, like you said it all depends on the carrier. We can want all day long but if it's not available there's no getting one. Mom wants an Iphone but there is NO service here in FL. She has to settle for Verizon or Tmobile. She really wants the Storm as well. I've told her to get it and try it for 30 days and see how she likes it. I did that with the Google G1 and was glad my father lost it over in England last week. ;D The G1 was not designed for a business user in mind. From what you have described above, the Storm fits you bill. The only other option maybe the Bold which has most of the kinks already worked out.
