It is more difficult to purchase a"brand new" from n US Dealer and bring it into Canada, however I have residence in Phoenix and would register it their put on some miles and bring it into Canada legally as a used bike.

i have imported two HDs and three vehicles over the last five years and it is not difficult at all.

If you have a house in Phoenix, why would you register it in Canada? I don't know the laws so curiosity has me.

As I only spend a minimal time in Phoenix in the winter, bike is ridden back in may and my main residence is in Calgary and most of my riding is done in Canada and NW and Mid West US I need it tiled and insured where it spends most of its time.

I do not title bike or insure in the US.

I don't know about other dealers, but in San Francisco, Calif. area all dealers sold out there SERG.
Each dealer are getting 1 or 2 and the waiting list are 6-12 deep.
'08 SEUC and '09 SE Springer is sitting on the floor with no buyers.
I pick my SERG (silver) on 12/31/08, I put down $1,000 deposit and waited 2yrs, I was #1 on the list.
They didn't give me any discount from MSRP, but they gave me the first 3 services for FREE!
WOW...this '09 SERG is a different (much better) animal from my '01 SERG! ;D

I guess what got me thinking is the US Auto industry.  Car sales are at an all-time low.  Every manufacturer is offering special incentives to move product.  i'm surprised that Harley isn't providing some dealer incentive to get things going.  The average guy isn't going to get financing, and will still hold off to buy something that is more fun than practical.

The CVO group is a bit different.  This is a bunch of guys who already are willing, and do pay 2X the cost of a bike, and I never read a thread about where to get the best financing.  The few thousand units we buy are not going to float HD.

Maybe it is just that I think dealers should take much better care of this group like they do at the high-end car manufacturers.  There is a big difference between Chevy and Caddilac.

Never forget that H-D Dealers are individually owned..

     -  Different business models
     -  Different needs for gross margins
     -  Different cash flow issues

You know the drill...But it is always interesting to compare...

As I inform folks in my industry, the deal may look different but the bottom line to everyone is pretty much the same.

It then becomes a matter of value-added offerings an solutions.
