My daughter started riding on the back of my Wing when she was ~7. Granted she was tall for her age... but it wasn't too big of a concern, since on the Wing she'd have to work pretty hard to fall off, between my backrest, the trunk and the arm rests I installed. Some of the best memories of her childhood. She is only 14 years old now... can't wait to get her on the back of my SERG!! (she said there was no way she was getting on the back of my BMW 1150GS... lol)

Make sure it is legal where you're riding and saddle her up and RIDE!   :bananarock:

When she was 8, we headed out on a road trip camping around Glacier NP, MT





She is a trooper... not one "are we there yet" on the whole trip. This trip was in JUNE... and here is the surprise we got at the top at the Logan's Pass visitor center. Was quite a hairy ride back down the hill!!   :nervous:



Wouldn't be the last time she rode in the snow with me!



When she was 9, we left WA State and took a tour down the Pacific Coast Hwy













The trip culminated with me breaking her in right, making the last day a 1,000 mile+ day, so she is officially a member of the Iron Butt Association. She was very excited at the accomplishment!!





Just remember, no matter how much fun she is having, nature will take its course quickly, and she will fall asleep... lol

Two of my daughters started riding with me when they were four years old. I'd put on an over-sized jacket, sit them in front of me and then zip them up inside. One of them had a habit of falling asleep on long trips so I'd lean back a little and let her snooze. I bought a Suzuki 50 four-wheeler for my three year old grandson's X-Mas present and he's doing great on it. When he's tall enough, I'll put him on a Honda trail 70 and then the XR75. He and his baby brother will be well equipped as long as I'm around :)

Great pictures Crusty.  My daughter has been riding on the back of my SEEG since she was six (now nine).  She has the same protective gear as I use.  The Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs are nice as well as putting the Ultra backrest on a chopped tour pack.  I have tried to make the riding experience enjoyable for her.  A happy BSR means a happy rider up front too.  She's ridden about 8,000 miles thus far.  Hopes this helps.

I got a set of those Kuryakyn adjustable rear pegs also.  Then (for reasons I can't remember now) didn't or couldn't use them with the FatCat exhaust.  The parts are still in parts cabinet.  Have to remember to look at them again and see why they weren't used.

Don-
They should work with the Fatcats as they mount on top of the MOCO passenger floorbard brackets and have 4 allen screws that come up from the bottom side thru a plate.

Have been thinking about just that.  Don't have a clue right now why I didn't get them on.  On the phone or I'd walk out and look again.

Could be something as stupid as forgetting to install them while the pipe was off the engine and then being too lazy to remove it again for the install.  That is if the pipe is in the way of tightening those four bolts?

Hmmmmm......

Will definitely have to look after while.  It'll bug me now.

I did eventually add some of those too, which made things even better!

That brings back memories, i did the same thing, illegal but effective.

Obiously commonsence comes into play, the child must be able to sit safely on the bike with feet touching footpegs, bike must have a backrest and the child should be able to hold onto the seat strap, other considerations will also be the length of the planned ride, the type of roads to be ridden on, etc etc

My daughters started at about 7, need to be able to reach the pegs. Their mother would let me take them on local roads, no major highways. Around 10 I started taking them on some longer rides.

The law in Georgia is that the child must reach the floor boards/pegs like many other states mentioned above.  My youngest who is now 13 has been riding with me since he was 6, and my daughter who is 19 has been riding with me since she was about 8.  She actually has her own sled now, and I let her take my old 01 UC out on her own once.  She's 6 feet 1 and thus, had no problem getting her feet down.

This may be preaching to the choir here in that you know this already.  But the best way to not want to have your child ride with you is to do "freaky" stuff on the bike (take curves at a high speed, go 100 mph down the road, etc., etc.).  My neighbors kids absolutely refuse to ride with him anymore because of that.

I love it....

It's funny I can't get my daughter to let up about riding now....

It was snowing and like 25 degrees and she came down in her pink snow suit.....

Can we ride to the park she says....

I'll get a picture. With her two front teeth missing, she is quite a sight ;D

I was stationed at Whiteman from 1988-94, so I've spent a little time in that neck of the woods.
