While browsing through the service manual for the '09 Baggers, I came across an interesting tidbit on page 2-60.
"Air baffle (FLTR)"
Removal
Note
"By allowing the flow of air to pass under the fuel tank and over the cylinder heads, removing the air baffle evacuates heated air and provides some relief to the rider in warmer temperatures: 70 F or above."
InstallationNote
Install air baffle in colder weather."
Got me to thinking that maybe MOCO is aware of some "heat related comfort issues" with the newer bikes? They are trying to alleviate some of the heat related complaints with heat deflectors, relocated exhaust system, rear cyl cutoff, and now front air deflector removal?
The frustration arises when I'm just trying to operate this bike without frying my leg, and cooking the wife's foot! Glad I have an EVO that is faster, cooler, softer suspension, better gas milage (sometimes!), but, it just doesn't handle like the '09 ! I guess I'll never have that "perfect bike"....LOL
