After three seats, the dealer decided to take it a step further and ordered a street glide seat. It looks great on the bike and no more gap. :bananarock: :carrot: :orange:

Yes , i agree , looks very good , is it a 2009 standard Streetglide seat ?
And it is a comfortable solo-ride seat , but not comfortable for BSR i guess .

I bit the bullet and went Corbin.  So, if anyone wants a SERG replacement seat (near new) I have an extra....   :nixweiss:

I love the seat, comfort level is good and my passenger had no complaints......But she was riding a 09 SERG.

Thank you guys very much. My seat has the ugly gap also. Took it to the dealer, he took a couple pictures and ordered a new seat.   :)   Very cool.

I have the gap on mine as well.  My dealer called H-D and they asked for pictures before approving the exchange.  They took the pics today.  Hopefully MoCo will approve the exchange.  Will let you know if I have any issues.

Thanks for the info. I've already modified the original tab to force the seat forward so it stays put.  :soapbox: The fix is easy but this is not the issue. Why should I have to replace, modify, fix, whatever, anything on a $30k motorcycle to make it safe? Why should I have to modify the seat to cover exposed wiring? Why should I have to buy a new, aftermarket seat to make my bike safe (and comfortable) and to hide unsightly bits? Why should I have to spend more money on an already extremely expensive product (supposedly Harley's best offering) to make it function correctly?  :soapbox:

The dealer did the mod for me, bent the fender around the female theads that are mounted in the fender. I guess it was pushing back to much.

I noticed the gap, and some stitching problems while they taking the test ride while they were getting ready to pick my old 06 SG apart for the trade. I had to do a little complaining, they called around to the other shops in the area. I have a new seat on the way.

My dealer in St. Louis Mo. ( Gateway Harleydavidson ) Is going to order me a new seat for a 2010 street glide or  SESG.Which ever one i choose, For my SERG to fix the seat gap. The owner, Chris said  he will deal with the MoCo, that i should not have to. Thank`s Chris. Gateway is a good store to do business with.

I'm pretty much fed up with the moco on this.  My dealer sent the pictures and moco made some statement that the gap  didn't look big enough, but the dealer convinced them otherwise.  Moco sent another.  I don't believe it was new.  Honestly, it appears to be someone elses take off that was sent back to moco and then out to respond.  I'm really wondering if one of you have my original seat.

To me it looks like the SESG has the same problem. I don't think you will be happy.

After 456 miles of riding , still no problems. The main point is no more gap! I even went as far as having it covered. :orange: :carrot: :2vrolijk_21:

UPDATE on my seat mods...

I removed the seat and found the tongue area to be rather loose (I know what we all think about loose tongues) but... I removed the staples... folded the cover back...

The foam is "supposed" to saddle the pan... It seems the cover was too loose allowing it to slide off the saddle... there is even a retaining strap in the foam.. but that was loose as well.

I'm going to try and re-staple the cover... and see how that goes, along with modifying the rear bracket for about a 1/2" more forward reach... It looks like Dan Lockwoods version may be too long for my bike. Will let you all know!

BTW, the center insert of the seat IS leather... Hence the leather dressing included with the bike...

More to come in a bit.. gotta run to the hardware store...
