It really is sad. I have been a member of the fan club for a while. V and I always had front row or very close. If we were not in the front row some how she got us there. I think her and Billy had a thing going on. She always wore a Georgia Peaches T shirt. I remember the last time we saw them in concert he raised his glass to us. That night she got the music page at least 1 drum stick and I don't know how many guitar picks. Billy even had his own picks. And we have one.
Be Safe
THE DAWG
I have the set list from their first reunion tour back in 1987 and all but one of the shows we saw in 2006. I remember the first time we went to a show someone thought I was crazy for maneuvering our way right up front to the rail. DC saw them in PA that year. I saw them in Nashville, TN at the Ryman where the videotaped the show and the live recording of Red, White, and Blue was made. You'll see me in that video too! Then, we both saw them in NC, GA (Atlanta and Rome), and MD that year. The show mentioned above was the last of 6 shows we saw them that year in Maryland at a fund-raiser concert for the FD. By that time, they pretty much recognized the "Georgia Peach" jumping up and down on the front row. LOL! What can I say I enjoy music and have a good time at concerts. Not only did he raise his glass to us and not only do I have one of his "piano pick," but he actually tapped a bouncer on the shoulder and told them to get my attention so he could hand it to me personally. I will always remember that!! We saw them once after that in 2007 at a fair somewhere up there, but can't remember where. Saw Billy Powell and two other current band members at the taping of VH1 Storytellers Kid Rock episode in Nashville, but they didn't perform. They just came and stood in the back and watched the show. Kid Rock thinks Lynyrd Skynyrd is the greatest band of all time and "Sweet Home Alabama" is the greatest song ever recorded. So they just came out to show their support. How cool is that?!? Guess I better frame the Lynyrd Skynyrd bandana I have signed by all the band members, huh? I am not sure they'll recover from this loss!
