Stopped by the dealer for a cup of coffee...
« on: February 01, 2009, 08:41:29 AM »

And ended up buying another motorcycle.  They had a leftover 2008 CVO Dyna in the anniversary color scheme and I was mentioning to the owner that I was considering purchasing a 'bar hopper' for cruising around town to go along with my CVO Roadglide.  I said I was looking to stay below $20K and was considering a Rocker C, or maybe a low mileage used bike.  He walked me right over to the  '08 CVO Dyna and tole me I could have it for $5K off the sticker which put the price at $20,500.  No shipping or prep charges.  I was extremely surprised by how much the unit was being discounted but since I live in the Detroit area where the economy is a disaster, I guess I'm not shocked. Pus, the anniversary color scheme is a bit polarizing. (I happen to like it on the CVO Dyna). It seemed like an awful lot of bike for the money. We pulled up the VIN on the computer to make sure the engine gasket upgrade had already been completed by the factory and I signed the papers.  I'm adding a heavy breather air cleaner and a set of Vance & Hines short shot pipes and that's about it.  Today I'm making room for it in the garage and trying to figure out what to tell the wife.  Suggestions are welcome.

First CONGRATS.

Try the "look how much money I saved" line.

I'm sure she's used it on you when she goes wild at the Dept. store sales. Used to make me crazy but I finally figured out how to pay back and it's kinda fun.

Good luck.

Congrats, and a good deal on the bike.

Just tell your wife, "Look what followed me home from the dealership today...can I keep it?"     ;)

Great deal! I too would have been tempted, but if it was the FXSTSSE, I miss my old Springer.
Tell the wife it is a Valentines Day gift for her, you both know you will be the pilot, but you don't need roses this year.

I tried that with a dog once...She didn't buy it. Now I don't have either  ;D. I'd go with the "Valentine's Day present for the both of you".
Sounds like you got a great deal.

Many miles & smiles.

Sounds like a good price. I wish I could just walk in and spill the ink on a whim! Heck, my used SERG is the 3rd most expensive thing I have ever bought after my house and my last pickup... That's if you don't count the kids....

Congrats on the new bike. As for the wife, go back to your dealership sign her up for the riders edge course and tell her you got it for her for Valentines so you guys could spend more time together. And of course if she's not riding it you can.

The truth............just tell her the truth.  It'll be painful.....the same as any of the made up excuses.  The consequences will be a shorter time frame when it's the truth.  And, the bonus....you'll be able to sleep at night. :2vrolijk_21:

Congrats!!!! That was a deal that just couldn't be refused. As for what to tell your wife... I don't know your wife so can't really tell you how to approach this what I will say is if she says you can't keep it (at your house) I'm sure someone here will let you store it at theirs. :D :D
