I've been reading this thread with interest so I'll finally wade in.

I used a small CV on my 06 and loved it. I'm 5'10" and I looked over it AND avoided most of the wind.  For my new SERG I kept that CV small for longer trips but from John at CV ordered a custom version of the dark tint Sport, made 2 inches lower than my CV small and it also has a very pronounced recurve.  I can't get on my new CVO for a few weeks yet but I expect the Sport will be great for most everything but the long trips, and then I'll put on the Small. I'll post pics when I take delivery of the new bike in a few weeks.

RB, Ive been riding for 55 years the first 30 with no windscreen, I kind of scoffed at the turbulance issue in the RG bikes as well, you will find out when yours arrives , they are great machines but the turbulance with the OEM screen is comparable to sticking your head out of a car window at 80 mph, Your experience with the relatively clean air from a bat wing fairing pales in comparison. Thats why there is so much written about this issue, an upgrade of some type is pretty much a necessity.

Sounds promising Roadrod, I am looking forward to Wisconsin thawing out soon so I can try out the 14 inch CB for myself. I am hoping for a realistic improvement over the KW. Thank's for the feed back.  :2vrolijk_21:

I have the stock height CV on mine. I took it south last week for some break in miles. Here is what I noticed, I'm 6'2" and had a lot of wind in my face and ears (moved my glasses around to much). Now keep in mind the wind was blowing 15-20 mph that week. Yes all week... When I held my hand up to feel how the wind from the shield was coming at me it appeared to be hitting me in the top of my head. I have to try riding it without all the wind and see if it gets any better. Not sure if this helps anyone or not. But thought I would share anyway...

How's the dark gray do after dark???
« Reply #155 on: March 08, 2009, 10:11:40 PM »

I'm curious how the dark gray windshield of Cee Bailey's is for after dark if you normally look over the top of the windshield??  I like the looks of the dark one a lot better but we usually end up riding a fair amount after dark and wondered how it would be then.    I like the looks of it but I'd hate to be riding at night and thinking I wish I'd bought the light gray one.

If you'll have to look through it, it's too dark at night.

Interesting comments on all the wind!  Makes me wonder if I should have stayed with the Ultra style....never was really bothered about a little wind buffeting.  I do have a CB 13" coming.  And, who in the heck listens to the radio on a Harley, for crying out loud!  Buy a GoldWing!  But, I've been told that I will like the ride, stability, etc of a Road Glide over an Ultra.  So, what the eff? :confused5:
As for the ride, I do not think you will find a Harley with a better ride than the SERG.  I have only got to ride mine three times, but have just over 440 miles on it.  One of the days I got to ride was in 20 to 25 mile an hour winds.  Bike handled that like a dream, better than any thing else I have rode.

I got the 14" dark gray CB.  Way to dark to look thru at night.

I look over it, so I am hoping it  will be fine in the dark

So LarryB, what did you end up doing?  My CB arrived back in Calf. yesterday.  They are supposed to contact me about a replacement or a refund.  After what you said I'm not sure if I want them to resend another one.  Let me know your feelings about this, they will probably call tomorrow.  Thanks

Well, the last 2 days I have been able to sneak off early and swap out to the Ghost. Did some back road twisties yesterday.  anything over 60 mph the CB is no better than KW. Under is fine. The CV is ordered. Let a friend use my 12" KW on his 09 96" RG, he loves it cept for over 60. said he would swap back and forth. I'm selling to him for 25%off cost. The CV may not look as good but if it rides good, im good. I will hang on to the CB, for now.

My own thought here is that if you want the most wind protection, you will need to go with a full touring shield that you have to look thru, I am not convinced that for looking over a shield there is none better than Cee Bailys.   I have the 14" dark tint and will not be looking for another shield.   Doc

Doc,  Have you used your dark tint shield after dark?  I have a full size shield on my road king now but I still usually look over the top of it and I prefer it that way.  I like the looks of the CB's road glide shield (for the 09 SERG) in the dark tint but I don't want to have any trouble seeing---but like I said I usually look over the top.  I would think that if you usually look over the top of the shield, then the dark tint would be much of a problem.  Although I was told it's hard to judge distance in town when pulling up behind someone until you get used to it.
What's your opinion of riding with it after dark?
Thanks,
Steve

*UPDATE*

Well, I got my windshield back after it was reshaped. I looked it over pretty good and you can not tell it was the same windshield. Got it mounted on the bike and I could not be more pleased..........

THANKS JOE!!!
