Extended Service Plan Contract
« on: February 18, 2009, 01:34:47 PM »

I've read the many posts concerning the ESP and I just did a search to see if the actual Contract was posted anywhere on this forum.  Unless I've missed it, it is not.  Is there anyone out there who could scan it in here so we could all read it (if we so choose) and decide what it truly says for ourselves?
Sure would be appreciated.  I've also searched H-D's site and Googled it and can not find a copy of it anywhere.
Thanks,

I am shopping for a Extended Service Plan Contract. Any help with who to buy from and contact numbers would be appreciated.
I spent the last hour looking through old posts.  :confused5: What's a good price on a 5/7 year contract? :nixweiss:

Please read the previous posts in this thread.  ::) Jenni Sapyda, at Tri-County HD, will give you 20% off the list price.  Get the wheel/tire road hazzard warranty also.  That will pay for itself in no time.

Do you know if these ESPs are a Harley Davidson product or are they through a third party vendor?  If they are a H-D plan I assume they would be honored by any Harley dealer anywhere in the country.  I live in North Carolina so if I buy a plan from Jenni it would be no different from buying one from my local dealer, right?

I believe they are a 3rd Party vendor, but all H-D dealers sell/provide the same one. Doesn't matter where you buy it from any dealer should/would honor it.

The ones Jenni sells are the HD product, good at any HD dealer.

The ESP you buy from the dealership is the HD Extended Service Plan, underwritten by a thrid party.  I bought mine through Jenni and live in Virginia, and it's good here, good down in North Carolina, good at any HD dealership.  :)  Give her a call, she'll hook you up and treat you right. :)

I've never purchased an extended warranty.  Do many of you feel it's really worth it?  I've always thought that after a year or two most things should be ok to go.  If not and it's out of warranty I'd probably fix it myself.  What are your thoughts on it?  Do enough of you think it's worth it?
My thoughts on it are kind of like any other insurance-if everyone needed it, it would cost a lot more.

I am the same way Skippy49...always thought it was nothing but profit for the company, but after watching my friends 3 yr old bike eat a cam bearing 800 miles from home last summer i am reconsidering.

I think it is Eaglemark a wholly owned subsid of the MOCO.
It is a 3rd party , but it is also HD

My thoughts on it are kind of like any other insurance-if everyone needed it, it would cost a lot more.

The MoCo, the Dealer, and the company that administers the agreement all make a tidy profit on the ESP.  So to answer your question, on average no it isn't worth it, just like any other ESP.  However, just like any other "insurance", what may be a losing proposition for one person can be a real windfall for someone else.  In the immortal words of Harry Callahan, "Do you feel lucky?".

I've never purchased an ESP, and in all but one instance over 30 years I've come out ahead by not purchasing one.  However, if I were to purchase one of the MoCo's current offerings I would be sorely tempted to buy the ESP.  Harley's quality has taken a major turn for the worse, and it wouldn't take much to create a $1200 plus repair bill.  I doubt I would go for the so-called 7 year (5 years actual) plan, but adding 2 years beyond the 2 year factory warranty might be a good idea.
