The Red bike takes advantage of 20% night
« on: February 20, 2009, 12:09:51 PM »

This a 2005 SEEG topic :2vrolijk_21:

Once a year my dealer does a 20% night for HOG members, coupled with a "1/2 off sales tax urban blight area" makes for an annual shopping trip.

The red SEEG will get:

New SE parts to install new "undetermined yet cams" to replace the chain tensioners.
Chrome inner primary
45 amp kit
Thunderstar rear pulley
10/84 ring gear conversion to help it start, along with the jack shaft parts (and I forgot to get a new battery, mine is 35k and four years old  :nixweiss:)
Tank fuel filter
Upper motor mount (to send out to be chromed)
Chrome SE air cleaner plate (more parts that should have been included on the bike)
Spun oil temp gauge

*New* push rod tube cover tool

Want to order 6 speed parts but just haven't decided which way to go yet.
teetering between;

SE 6 speed with the 3.37 primary change
or
DD6 with the 27 tooth comp sprocket change.

Drain plugs came up in another thread - see no reason for teflon tape here ..................

This is the reason for ordering the 10/84 and jack shaft conversion

I complained several times about the way the bike starts, the dealer never found a problem, even after I brought in this picture.

Those are teeth from the ring gear.

Duane-
No wonder we have no faith in dealers with a  statement like that made after seeing that picture.

My ring gear teeth were nothing like that (broke off), but didn't have 35K on them either.  Wonder it even still cranks.

Bob that picture was taken 2-3 years ago. Every time the bike was in for repairs I mentioned the hot start issue.

If I ever pull the heads I may add CR's

Sorry Jamey - compression releases.

When hot and trying to restart after a very short shutdown, the bike does not like to crank over very well.

Duane-

Mine did the same thing before the 10-84, chrome starter, jackshaft, and 575's..   Now sounds like a Honda when cranking.  No longer do people stop and see what all the noise was at a dealer, show, or gas station.

So do you think it is the chrome starter that helps?

It's a sad looking for sure Duane, but you will have a new performing bike when done.

My ringear was no way like yours and still made the noise.  The chrome starter was just wishfull thinking for spending another $425 to be just like dOOd     :)   .    The chrome starter does look nice though since the crossover pipe is gone.
