I do not know Jack,

It has been my experience that those without a windshield suck the most wind!

I have to confess that I did spend a little time yesterday
to find the perfect spot to duplicate that experience and
put this on video (in the same area with camera angle).

I also keep reading into this whole 'Subject' and wonder
WTF where you guys are coming from ? based on what I
have offered freely and honestly as a 'Ride report'!

Basically 'Down shift, full burn, 5th gear launch' !

And I don't expect a CVO Bagger that weighs a lot more,
let alone the rider, feel the rear wheel break loose in 3rd
and now 4th to a lesser degree.  Just by cracking the
throttle in the power band.

When I bought this bike, an Ultra Classic was @$3k less,
but not my flavor.

I refuse to put a shield on this Springer because for me the
MOCO got it right the first time, other than my personal tweaks.
I ride hard and I need to feel the resistance at speed and use it
to back off.  Can't do that with a shield.

How anyone who rides a Bagger can come back at me with their
crap is surprising to say the least.

"Sorry" you made your choice and denied yourselves the
opportunity to have this crap thrown at you too.

If you have this bike, and you disagree with me, you haven't
reached its outer limits.

I heard this story about a guy with a beautiful CVO FAT
BOY ? maybe it was within this site.  It was at 'Carlisle'
in the burn pit.  This guy pulled his immaculate bike in and
burned until the rear tire blew, while the crowd cheered
their loudest.  He won the burn out contest. Probably
got a trophy, embarrassed his wife that he treated his
bike like that, after all the care that he put into it. (I can
imagine what she was thinking about their relationship
and the less loving care she was probably getting compared
to the bike.)  Well he also got the pool of money which didn't
cover the cost of the rear tire, let alone the time and effort
to put back the appearance he rode in with.

Sounds a little like the 'Romans and the Gladiators'.

Which brings us to this point !

I wanted to find out more on the H-D rings illustrated  in the
latest HOG mag and came back to this site and discovered
a msg I never read.  That led me to an old reply to an earlier
post that I felt needed addressed, $5000 was my answer to this.

Eventually, I talked to the 'Only person that matters to me!' about
this and was assured that there was no reason to pursue it.

My analogy:  In any society there are a small number of parasites
that exist on others good intentions.

BUT, I have to thank you guys, being a newbie for a couple of
years, in the past did work on me, but I got over it.  And this
subject has generated a lot of attention, to keep up I am not
a newbie anymore.  Thanks for that I guess ?

To down shift into a full burn ? Easiest $5 Grand I ever made!

Pretty stupid to get so pissed off, must be the coffee I drink !

Should the opportunity be afforded me to put this on
video, and you feel compelled to "Eat your words", please
donate to your local food bank instead of that new part for
your bike.

Lastly:

"HOIST PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR GETTING SO PISSED OFF,
I WOULD LIKE TO DEMONSTRATE, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT"

                              Semper Fi,

Well Jack, the consolation is you are in the top five "active" threads today.  Amazing for a thread that never elicited a post from the intended target.

Sounds like it's mostly over though by your last post, a video would solve it though as you indicate.  Enjoy the ride!

Jack,
I would like to reply to you directly and maybe this will get thrown but you say that you are a Marine.  Honor was one of our 1 of the 3 Corps Values in the Marine Corps...  So why you full of CHIT on this one.  Do you not have a conscience when it comes to telling lies.  I don't bet my money as freely as you but I will give you a place and time to come and demonstrate this amazing bike, the CVO gathering in Eureka Springs here is the link so you can start making plans to attend.   http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=29353.0 While you are planning you should make an appointment at the local speed shop and get that bike hopped up so you can prove all of us wrong.  Nonbeliever you call us well yes I am but a BULLCHITTER fits for you.

Jack, I believe that YOU believe your bike will do what you claim.  However, when everyone else on this forum KNOWS this cannot happen on a stock Springer, it may be time for you to check what you believe at the door, and listen.  I have ridden a bike like yours, and I weigh about 180lbs, and I KNOW for an absolute fact that I could not break the rear wheel loose in 4th gear, regardless of how I shifted.  You have a clutch problem, or were on some weird pavement....period.  I've ridden a bunch of bikes, with all kinds of Power to weight ratios, and can confidently say that a high gear burnout would not have been possible on any of them.  Chirping a tire is one thing, but what you describe is simply not physically possible.  But, in the end, it's what you believe that is your reality, but obviously nobody else shares your reality.

Talking about this 'till the cows come home proves nothing.  Simply get a friend to video a drive by at the speed you indicate, do your immaculate shift, and the smoke from the tire will be visible to all, or at least the rubber on the road.  Post the video on YouTube so everyone in the world can see it.  Simple/effective.

Seriously, I respect your service to the country, but you've got some real issues to address.

That is the biggest load of crap I have heard in a long time.  Spinning the wheels in 4th gear at 55mph on a stock springer.   Guess what I was A Seargent in the Army and I don't "bullchit".  I have an on 09' CVO Springer softail with the race tuner and V&H big radius pipes and no way will it spin the tires in fourth not even my 09' vmax that has 170hp to the wheel will at 55mph in 4th gear but it will in 2nd.  Here are some pics for the non believers.

Maybe if you clutch the bike in fourth and snap it out it might churp the tires.  What do you weigh 2oz's?

dozer,

Nice Vmax you got there, I'm jealous, I had one back in the nineties but decided to get rid of it before it got rid of me  :huepfenlol2:

I was totally insane on this bike challenging anyone who would dare to race me, stage 2 with full time V-boost I could lift that bitch in any gear and break loose the rear end at will, it actually took a lot of control to keep the bike on a straight launch without breaking the rear end loose, but after a few hundred races under my ass I could run circles around the competition.

Trust me, Your V-max can do this, its just a question of are you willing to push it to this point, any little oversteer could get that rear end fishtailling and send you high siding in the ditch, and I hate when that happens  :-X

My fellow MARINES,

I have removed the 'Marine Sgt' from the 1st post on page one of this subject only because I am quite tired of people with the lack of protocol slandering the Corps on my carelessness of putting it there.  And I wish those who have made mention in their reckless fashion remove theirs as well.

We as Marines exist in a very special class of People, and I have Honored this sanctity for over 40 years.

Why some people compare themselves to Marines without paying the price is beyond me ? Maybe they just want to post pictures?

Thanks for your service ? dozerdogue. If you were actually a Sergeant you would not have forgotten how to spell it at any rank, which makes me think this is not your bike as well.  If it was mine I would naturally have my hands on it, leaning over it for the pic, and the Honda probably not yours either. But you should notice the new one has a 240 rear tire, mine is 200, but you wouldn't have noticed because whats $30K anyway.  Glad they did that, keep it from spinning ????  Now you can go back and change the spelling as not to offend real Sergeants or anyone who actually protected free speech and your ability to do so.

My time in the Corps was brief, but there are those of you who are the FEW of the FEW like my son TODD also a Sgt. 2nd LAR 'Delta' Co OUTLAWS OEF 2004. A major factor in the Presidential Unit Citation they received for serving in Fallujah. 2nd LAR has served many times in El Anbar Province.

For those (not Marines) reading this: 2nd Marine Division Light Armored Reconnaissance Company 'D'

Also look up M249 SAW Gunner while you're at it. TODD was a mechanic/technician responsible for four LAV's, his fondness for weapons placed him as best Scout in 'Delta' Co as well.

My son has been decorated by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, had his NCO Sword ceremoniously presented to him by the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.  Not ever to forget mentioning, formally presented and awarded a Medal by the Secretary of the Navy because of his (TODD's) second effort to do so.  And, I was present in awe with many others for all three formal presentations.

In effect I don't take the Marine Corps lightly.

I entered this ARENA with $5000 and it still stands, and only because I have already done what some misguided souls think is impossible.

To the Marines and any Service Member I apologize for that mistake, but not for what I have HONESTLY posted as a ride report. I assure you that it is the only apology I will make in this ARENA.

Do I really care how many bikes someone has ridden and the hp ?, they haven't ridden mine for 16,600 + miles in just two seasons. I only mention this because someone who only rides a couple thousand a year learns to ride that bike all over again especially here in the East, where you can't just go around the block, for months at a time.

I was quite flattered the the Screaming Chickens have entered the ARENA but not some of that entry. A few months ago I came across some pic's of them in WASH. DC? and they stand pretty tall from what I can remember.  But again pretty much Baggers.

And really appreciate the warm welcome to come out and visit with you 'Screaming Chickens', but I can do this here one more time without any changes to my bike.

So I Googled you guys to find out more. Don't just put in 'Screaming Chicken' you would be supprised what comes up.

The only reservation I have ever had since this bike found a home was the day they dropped it off.  I hadn't been on a bike for over 20 years and the thought of flying thru the back of the garage was foremost on my mind when I fired it up & had to park it.

As (comparison only) a skater on ice needed  several thicknesses to concider when performing.  The speed skater needed the least thickness for ice support.  Weight dynamics of a fast moving object created the least stress upon the ice.  In effect I would think that spinning the rear wheel at 55 mph would be similar to those same dynamics.  And a 200 tire at a stop has a big foot print compared to 55 on the highway ! What's so hard to believe about that ?

Lastly, there are many new H-D bike owners out there that don't know that CVO's exist.  I don't have to tell any of you CVO owners that.  You have been explaining since you've owned one.  Most of you are Baggers or comparable. Now concider being a member of that club and misguided (owners ?) don't believe what I post ?  This is a joke on me isn't it.  Surely other 110's have done something like this by now.

The 07 FXSTSSE on the H-D site did show 2400 units. Divided by 3 (colors) thats 800.  But the MOCO went on strike during the production run.  According to my contacts this number is actually less, more like 500.  So those of you that have one, even those who haven't found this site yet, someone out there has done exactly as I have done.   So keep it off this blog, these guys don't need more than one to throw crap at !

Again I have to think that those responding in a negative fashion are only the loud minority.  There are those out there that know this can be done.  Its no big deal to them, not a big deal to me either. But when I returned recently, it rekindled my obsession, only to have crap thrown around because I wanted to share the facts about this amazing machine.

                                                               Semper Fi

First off, I was an 11 Bravo which is infantry which I'm sure you already know is Light Infantry.  I went to Fort Benning Georgia in 1990 better known as Sand Hill to those who were in the Army and did my 6 years active by 2 years inactive .  Excuse me Mr. High and Mighty Marine, I guess I'm not worthy of being a so called Marine.  I was just a peasant in the CT Army National Guard.  I was a 60 Gunner as well as being part of the 50 Cal Crew team later on while in the service. As for the bikes not being mine I'll take any pose you want with me on them smoking the tires, all bikes lined up together or what ever it takes too make you a believer.  I guess some people have more toys than others. It's not my problem I work hard and can afford to have more than 1 bike.  In fact I'll go outside right now and line them up all together in my driveway with me sitting on the V-max or what ever bike you choose. HOORA!  Im the last soldier on the right side 2nd row up from the Drill "Sargeants".  By the way thanks for that clarification on how to spell Sargeant.  Maybe I should recite all my General Orders.
