Big Jugs and forked
« on: October 07, 2005, 08:03:55 PM »

Last year when returning from Sturgis, I noticed a leak from around the rocker cover on the rear cylinder. My dealer made a valiant effort to get the resultant stain off the cylinder fins but a small spot still remained. They replaced the rocker cover which appeared to be warped.

This year, about half way home from Sturgis, I checked and found considerable oil sweating onto both cylinders from both rocker covers.
By the time I got to the dealer here in Atlanta, both jugs were a mess and could not be cleaned. Since I had about 42,000 miles on the scoot, I left it with the shop for a 40K servicing. They replaced both jugs; both rocker covers; rings; and gaskets.
Had to break the motor in again since it

Hey Viking, you don't reckon that Amsoil is eating little holes in those gaskets, do you?  That's really strange that you had the same deal happen twice.  On a serious note, had they changed the amt. of oil in your forks at the service to cause the hard acting suspension?   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

The Syn 3 junk was in the motor for the first leak and Amzoil for second.

Mechanic said that the covers on both cylinders warped?

I hardly ever go over 140 mph for more than 20-30 mile stretches, so I am not sure about the possibility of overheating!

The mechanic overfilled the fork oil and when he dropped about 2 ounces per leg it rode great

Don't need 7. I have run 149 in 10.4 sec. for the 1/4 mile on the Dyno.
Not bad for a stock mount and a pilgrim dyno rider?

Clocked at 138 true speed (speedo said 146) on I-20 by police. That's really about the top end due to the batwing fairing.

I've since tricked up and have 102 HP. It would do better, but the stock clutch slips when entering the power curve.
Got to get a Barnett when it ruptures!

Let's see, geared for a 10.4 sec 1/4, only 100 HP, and still goes 149. Hmmmm..... ::) Hoist! 8)

Different subject, but the AIM Total Lockup might help that stock clutch!

P.S. If you ride over 130 for to long, you eyes and mouth dry out and you have to stop for eye drops and a beer!!!

The extra performance must be attributable those Premium Twin Airhorns! Simply amazing.

It was a calculated run on the dyno!
With the power yours has and your B/S added in I suspect you could turn a 8.75  @ 178.
Could you imagine how much better yours would do if you cranked it first?

Like to see an Eglide run a 10.4 quarter....it would take 150-175 hp to get her there.... :bananarock:
