Anyone else running Lucas Oil products?  I run 20-50 racing oil (non syn) in the engine, 20-50 motorcycle oil in the primary and 75-90 in the trans.  Ran this stuff for the last 3 years in my 02 Duece so may as well stuff it in the SERG. 8)

On gear oil or transmission oil do you want friction modifiers or oil with no friction modifiers?  Has to do with the clutch does it?

Gordy I hadn't thought of that aspect. Lucas and Amsoil were both in Biloxi this last weekend in the boat races. Have always used Redline in my bikes. Looks like they need to get with the program and sponsor a boat or two. Ms Geico, with her turbines, was running 181 - 190 down the straightaways. Nice ride there and back on Sunday.

Mobil 1 V twin in the engine...

Red Line Shockproof in the transmission...

Red Line MTL in the primary...

and I am making some of my own...

http://www.carthagepress.com/news/business/x2081095701/From-old-tires-to-new-energy

When I looked at the RED LINE web site I found that they have the heavy shock proof for the tranny as well as a V-Twin Shock Proof. As for the MTL is there a weight I should be looking for?

Please advise,

I used their gear oil in my Fatboy and have plans to use it in the new Ultra. It shifts real smooth and is very quiet. One of the local shops is an Amsoil dealer (most are around here) and after riding mine, he decided to switch to Lucas in the tranny. That picture of Redline above reminds me of the Lucas demo displays they have in auto parts stores.

My primary oil got a lot cheaper after going to the fancy schmancy Barnett "Scorpion" clutch in the red bike.  While it's supposed to run with anything some synthetics give it problems (oy...., don't they).  Barnett engineer told me they developed the disks to work best with simple old type F ATF.  Gotta love cheap.

Well if you really think about it, the primary is one place where we really are in overkill mode, there is little lubrication going on, mostly heat transfer.

Ok guys...I just turned 1000 miles on mine and am getting ready to take her the dealer for the first service.  Are they going to balk when I say I want something other than the Syn3 in her and are they going to say this voids the warranty?

The other thing...and excuse my ignorance here...what is bad about the Syn3 other than the inflated price?

Yeap, that's why I didn't really care.  The Barnett engineer even said their clutch pack could be run dry.  But I wasn't doing that in a closed primary.  So some cheap ATF to carry the dust out with and to carry the heat off the parts a bit.  Simple solutions are ok with me.

If they even mention warranty when you speak of alternative fluids point my finger at them and call them bad names.  So long as the fluid used is of the proper grade or better they can't say a word.  At least they're not supposed to.
