HD-Dude, is there another place further up the harness I can install this module so it will work the saddle bag lights as turn signals?

No, You will need to splice into the module wires with the wires going to the spoilers.

My SEEG2 came with spoiler lights on the tour pak and saddle bags. Currently they only function as brake lights. I would like to have them work as turn and brake lights. Is there a way to do this without cutting in to the wiring harness?

Thanks for any help,

R

If the tour pak spoiler and saddlebag spoilers are functioning only as brake lights, the wiring is not correct.  Both the TP and saddlebag spoiler LED's use a Deutsch connector that is plugged into the accessory connector under your seat.  The wires should match up with black=ground; blue=run light; and red/yellow=brake light.

As for wiring the sadllebag LED's for turn signals in addition to run/brake, it's so simple (even a caveman could do it) and you aren't hacking the bike's wiring harness, though you are changing the harness of the saddlebag LED's.  If you look at the saddelbag LED harness, it's two harnesses that are joined at the Deutsch connector pins.  You can disassemble the connector or simply cut the right and left side wires near your HD run/brake/turn signal module.  Splice the black wires from the saddlebag LED's to a black wire in the connector for ground.

For the left and right side turn signal function, as well as the run/brake light functions, just pick either of the remaining two wires in each harness (it doesn't matter which you choose and you will only use one of the two wires from each side.  The other wire is unused in this configuration.  Take the wire from the left side saddlebag LED and splice it to the violet wire aft of the module.  Take the wire from the right side saddlebag LED and splice it to the brown wire aft of the module.  (For these purposes, "module" means the little black box that has the wires exiting it, but before the connector to the harness that goes inside the rear fender.)

For an even "neater" installation, you can remove the black, violet, and brown wires from their connectors, cut-off the pin terminals, and co-join the wires rather than splice them as the Deutsch connector does with the saddlebag LED's as supplied by HD.

It's a very simple project and has worked well on my bike for 2+ years/25K miles.  The LED's on the saddlebags function as run/brake/turn signals and they have the same brightness as they would in the run/brake HD standard install.  I compared mine to a buddy's saddlebag LED's and mine were the same as his in the run/brake modes with the turn signal brightness the same as the brake light.

Thanks for the input. You wouldn't happen to have any pictures of all this would you?

I don't have pictures, but you can remove your seat and see everything described in my post:  (1) the wiring harnesses from both saddlebag LED's going to a Deutsch connector where they are co-joined to create single circuits for ground, run, and brake; and, (2) the black, violet and brown wires aft of the HD black box module.

The Appendix of the HD Service Manual for your bike will have descriptions with pictures of disassembling/reassembling the connectors.  Alternatively, you can use butt splice connectors or posi-taps to splice the two wires from each saddlebag LED harness to the module wires.

This approach with the saddlebag LED's is the same as the Custom Dynamics kits for converting the tour pak lights on EG Ultras to add turn signal functions:  (1) create left/right circuits; and, (2) tap the turn signal wires aft of the module.

Good luck.

The connector attaches to this clip to hold it in place. It just slides on and clicks in place.
Is that a mod for moving the backrest?

I too have the 05 SEEG 05. My tourpack lights and spoiler light only work as brakes light. I do not have power on the blue wire under the seat for running lights. It goes into the wiring harness and after that I don't know where it goes. Was not going to tear into anymore until after Daytona. Does anyone know the next place to find the blue wire, or where that power come from? Thanks  Tony

My saddlebag spoilers are "running" lights only. My Tourpak spoiler is a dual intensity, "run & brake".
I also have the side lights on the tourpak as "run & brake".

Got a set from a member here about 2 years ago.....just installed them last weekend.

Only work as brake lights. Could move a wire in the deutz connector under the seat to change them to running only

Going to leave it as brake only

Don't install them.  If you do you'll want to install O2 sensors in them.  Then they'll fail.  Or maybe they won't.  Or something in between.  Perhaps.

Damnit Don pay attention.

D00d's hinges are for pre 06 bikes, no 02 sensors in those hinges and none required.

Unless he adds a supercharger then he may need a set of sensors and bling/bling lights.
