Grizzly,

Sounds like a great plan with the potential of the amp upgrade in the future that will enable you to detach the tour pak if you choose. The system really appears to be well conceived and nicely designed. I am sure it must sound great!

quick question...I have the Harley windshield 2 pouch unit which affixes to the top of the leather dash...with this unit installed and the leather dash gone, will I be able to affix my windshield pouch to the top of this unit?
Thanks in advance,

In the photo, it looks like there is actually a fraction of an inch more room for a windshield bag with the speaker pod mounted.  I have the 3-bag setup on mine and I know they have some rubber pads mounted to the bottom.  I would assume that this will eventually wear a mark into the top of the paint on the speaker pod, but if you are leaving it on, who cares?  It's going to probably leave a mark in the pad also. Just my guess from looking at the photo, but it looks like it will be an easier fit than with the pad.

The HOG POD sits in the exact same place as the leather dash pad so if windshield bags fit with the dash pad they should with the HOG POD.

Here is a photo from another thread that shows bags with the POD.

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=32109.0;attach=101525

There was another thread on this site (with a much clearer photo) that also showed bags sitting on top of the POD, but I couldn't locate the thread again.

Cool...thanks to you both for your responses. I have been in touch with Roger at Extreme Measures and Pez...he will ship the mod to Roger for painting and Roger expects to have the paint match for the frosted white within the week...I already have the Hogtunes 6 speaker upgrade but the treble always seemed muted so I hope this upgrade does the trick.
Another interesting piece of news is that I thought you could only do a two pouch setup on a CVO Ultra, but it appears you can do the 3 pouch...of course, since i am quiting smoking tomorrow the two pouch should still suffice.
Thanks again,
PIBIT ;D ;D

Enjoy Mr. D, you're going to love it!
By the list of your bikes I can now understand why you have four.

I'm certain that PEZ looked after you real good.

Take care & ride safe,

Hi William,

There actually is no color code that H-D is willing to part with, as you no doubt already know.

However, I found a great guy who specializes in matching CVO colors... All years!

His name is Roger from Extreme Measures   http://www.extrememeasures.ca/  and with the sales success of the HOG POD Roger has started an exchange program.  You'll find his prices very reasonable and he's a nice guy to deal with.

Simply give Roger a call at 905-469-6718 (he prefers a phone call over email due to demand) and arrange to ship him your casing and in no time at all you'll have your color matched casing back ready to be installed.

Good luck!
Grizzly

I called Roger about painting the hog pod midnight blue pearl like the inner fairing on my 07 SEUC. He said he couldn't do it without a piece of the bike to work with. Anyone in the U.S. that can match up my color for the hog pod?

You'll have to give up a side cover to match the paint for a couple days.
I have not responded to this thread until now because before now all I had was opinions from heresay. But now I am armed with info gathered from experience. did a little Intel.
I switched to HawgTunes a couple months ago., two speakers in fairing. sounds great, at 75 it sounds ok. Base is good. I realized that some songs played better than others (all off an Ipod) thought about pulling the amp and and speakers and tossing but then I hear a song that I , just lets say acquired from a more legal source, sounded great at 80. so, big thing, If you're downloading tunes from net the volume may be down.
Do this test. Take a CD with any particular song and play it at mid volume, now play that same song that you downloaded from the net onto an Ipod at same volume and see if you get a difference. So I just burned 200 MP3's onto a DVD disc and will try it today.
am getting the lower fairing speaker pods and will install my factory speakers into them

I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like this is what you need for downloading from the net:  http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/download.php  If I read things correctly, you can't fix what you've already done, but your new downloads will sound better, or at least come through at higher volumes.  Like I said, I haven't actually experimented with it yet, and it's riding season, so I may not get to that until winter.

Most likely Roger hasn't done the new 09 blue and silver yet...

It really doesn't matter which painter you use... With the CVO's special paint if the painter wants a good job, he'll require a side cover to match it.  Roger does an amazing job at matching, but you'll have to give him the tools first.

I suggest giving up your left side cover which will be less noticeable when missing and I'm sure it'll only be for a few days as Roger is very quick.

Once Roger has done yours he'll then have the correct color for future orders... And won't you feel good that you've paved the way for your CVO brothers and sisters?

Good luck with it.

I don't mind paving the way for others and may very well do so, but I like to enter bike shows and can't part with a side cover until the season is over. I will send it to Roger this winter if I can't get it done locally before then. Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate all the knowledge you share on this site.

Two 2nds?  What, are those judges blind?  Maybe they didn't notice your tourpack hinges.
