Guns
« on: April 17, 2009, 06:02:47 PM »

Today was a great day in MN and I rode to Cabela's to get some 9mm shells. The shelf was empty and the guy says they can't keep them in stock. Got 135 boxes in and they were gone in 4 hrs. He said it's because of the proposed 500% tax to take effect Nov. 4 2009. Is this true? On shotgun shells too?

I know how that feels like. I OWN a range and that's the blood that runs through the veins here. I'm trying to get in ANY ammo that I can so my customers have something to shoot. ZERO availability...

BTW, AK stopped in today with his son-in-law Brandon Vera (from left to right- Brandon, me and Andy). Finally got to meet a forum member in person. Great guys!

Hope to meet more of you guys soon.

No it is not true, although the liberal politicians would probably think it is a great idea to tax bullets so high that nobody can afford them anymore. There are many reasons why ammunition is hard to come by lately including: high demand, hoarding, fear, scarcity, untrue internet rumors, and a whole slew of other reasons. Also, consider that 135 boxes is not a whole lot of ammunition. Last Sunday, my wife and I shot 4-500 rounds of 9mm ammunition at the range in a couple of hours and my daughter shot 200 rounds of 22lr. When I buy 9mm or .45 caliper bullets, I typically buy 20 boxes, that is 1000 rounds and only good for 2 or 3 trips to the range.

where i'm at the .380 is tough to get.

i bought in to all the hype and have a good supply of various ammo. the gun dealers are flourishing right now.

I've always maintained a .380 isn't much more than taking a knife to a gunfight. Here's another example  :nervous:

+1 for .45 (SIG 220).  :pepper:

Confession: More often than not, I carry a .38 5 shot S/W 642 (with HP ammo) in a pocket holster when riding.  If leaving town, I throw into the saddlebage, the SIG with an extra clip for extra meal protection.  :P
