So, I picked up a new tach for the bike. It's slightly different in its lead colors and I'm starting to think I might have the wrong piece.
Of course everything else looks the same.
I took the rubber shielding off the original setup to look at how the leads are connected, and am now in a funk trying to figure out how to install this thing.
The original setup is married to the speedo leads and all plug in to the single 4-contact wiring plug.
The original contact wire colors on the unit are blue, orange and yellow.
The blue wire appears to be spliced with two blue wires from the speedometer.
The yellow wire runs directly to the plug.
The orange wire appears to be spliced with 3 orange wires from the speedometer.
Here's the real question:
As I look at the replacement unit, the colors are pink, orange, and black.
Are those fittings down by the housing detachable? And is that how I'm supposed to replace the unit?
Or, do I have to splice everything to the speedometer?
AND..if I do get to just detach and re-plug into the fitting down by the tach housing...which colors replace which?
Thanks for any help.
