Another good road, from my weekend trip two weeks ago....

Take Rt 28 from Deals Gap Resort all the way South to Franklin - it can be a spirited ride!    WHAT A BLAST!

RT 28 is the one they call the Hellbender

I just had the opportunity a few weeks ago to ride some of the roads in TN and NC.  Beautiful country and awesome twisty roads.  What a great place for a motorcycle adventure.  I don't think I'd want to live there though...unless you have a sportbike, you'd never be able to get anywhere in a hurry.

Whats the rush?  In the south we like it laid back :coolblue:

Seriously once you learn the road you can make pretty good time.

1/2 of why I moved to East TN when I retired from the Navy was the good roads for Motorcycling, the other was the good lakes :2vrolijk_21:

Around these parts, we take the scenic routes for rides, but when you start flirting with darkness or rainstorms, or the start of a Steeler game, there's always a straight shot route available to get you home in half the time.  It just doesn't seem that this option exists in the areas I traveled.  I'm sure that's not the case everywhere down there.

I was on this road and I'd compare it to our twistiest up here. How many miles is it on Rt 28 from Deal's Gap to Rt. 441 if you're heading to Dillard, Georgia ? I'm guessing 75 ? And, what road is called the Snake ? We might have been on that road too.

MIKEH, The Snake is Hwy 421, From Bristol, TN to Mountain City, TN, Hwy 421 will take you thru Boone, NC and can get on the Blueridge Pwky from there. If you ever ride it and are into NASCAR 421 runs right behind Bristol Motor Speedway and Thunder Valley (drag strip) and you can stop and go inside the tracks.  :2vrolijk_21:

We went through Boone on our way south. Coming out of Virginia, we jumped on RT. 21 and was surprised to find Fox Creek Leather. That place is in the middle of nowhere ! We stayed on Rt. 21 until we got to the Blue Ridge Parkway, ran it down until we hit a detour which took us to Rt 321 and ran that to Boone, NC. We came downhill into Boone at a big six lane ? intersection (gas station on left). We sat there until the rain quit and then made a left to stay on 321 / 221. I don't remember seeing Rt. 421. If it takes you into Tennessee, we probably didn't ride it. Maybe next time...

I am only retired from the Navy.

I still have to work, however I figured a good way to balance work and play.  I work 14 days straight, then get 14 days off.  Not bad only working 1/2 the year :coolblue:

I tried on a couple of their leather jackets. They're very well made but jeez, are they heavy ! Wearing one of them all the time would get you bulked up :)
