Heres the first rumors:
Supposedly, the heads of the motor are set at 72º, which is halfway between the bulkier but smoother running 90º setup, and the more traditional 45º setup used on the current Harley Twin Cam and Evo engines. What is especially interesting about this rumor is that each crankshaft throw is to be split 18oº either side of the throw centerline, so that the resulting piston configuration emulates a 90º engine. This arrangement could be in an effort to retain the “Harley” sound of the bike, which the company once tried to trademark.

"Now HD is rumored to be working on a new V-4 engine. It's unclear whether this engine is for use in traditional HD products and/or Buell. In either case, this is really big news and proves that the MoCo is determined to expand market share with new products, even in troubled times.
Our overseas sources say cylinders of the secret Four are set at 72 degrees, which is a good compromise between a theoretically perfectly balanced but long and untidy 90 degree layout and a compact and elegantly symmetrical configuration, such as a 45 degree design. To reach a superior level of primary balance, each throw of the crankshaft is split in 2 sections; the axis of each is set 18 degrees off centerline, for a total offset of 36 degrees. The final result is a 72 degree V-4 as well balanced as a 90 degree V-4. To further cancel any residual vibration, a balance shaft has also been added.
Possible displacements are thought to range between 1300 ands 1600 cc's, with bores expected between 86 and 89mm, while strokes would range from a very short 55.5 to an intermediate 64.5mm. The combination of an 86mm bore with a 55.5mm stroke delivers a 1290cc Four expected to produce power numbers in the region of 170HP. Big numbers by HD standards for sure.
If the rumored project ever makes it beyond the conceptual stage (our sources at HD would neither confirm or deny existence of such a project), it could be one of the most important in HD's history, primarily because it treads on new turf and breaks with tradition."
I would buy one if they kept the classic look or come up with an excellent design together with the original sound and goods like power windshield etc...
But I wouldnt want harley to completely change directions from traditional.Water cooled would be a second bike for me and I would keep the original no matter what.
