Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing well. I have been doing a lot of planning with the bike. I decided i am not ready to do a entire build on the engine yet. I don't have enough knowledge and don't have a good builder to count on yet. So i am going to hold it of till next year foresure. I had the dealer put Vance and Hines 2 into 1, and put a canned map on it with a sert. I am going to put a new cam in it, i am going to bring it to the dealer just for this because i haven't found a good mechanic in the area yet. My goal for now is maybe to get a little more out of the engine and cool it down a bit. But ultimately i want the engine to run as efficient as it can until i have a plan on the build. I think i am going to stay with a chain driven cam. It is my understanding that this is the easiest swap. Just what i have picked up, is that at all accurate? If i am correct, i have also gathered that without any headwork or digging into the engine any further the se251 is my best option in the chain driven cam? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I am still in the process of learning the engine stuff here. If i am wrong please correct me, and if i am off the map please get me on track. I am trying to get my hands on a 88 or 96 engine that i can rip down and build just for the experience. If anyone has a good resource i can read or watch building/understanding these engines i would like to know. I did order the service manual for the springer,Still waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for any help in advance.
Andy
