2009 SERG?
« on: May 24, 2009, 08:48:40 PM »

I test rode an orange 2009 SERG today. The bike is freekin beautiful. Right now I have 2 bikes, a BMW K1200S which is basically a 167hp sport bike and a 2004 Road king. The plan was to ride my BMW on fast midnight runs and the RK on bike nights with my buddies. I have not ridden the BMW in 2 months.

My RK has 21" apes and a SE 103 with cams and Rienharts. The bike has no problem keeping up with and slightly pulling on my buddies SG the dynoed at over 100HP. It will do this up to about 90 where I have to let off because with the apes ,I have a hard time holding on. I also do not like my RK highway manners.

I really liked how the SERG handled, it looks awesome but jeez this thing is slow. I was really expecting more. My plan was to trade in both my bikes for the SERG. If I could get the SERG too run as good as my RK yet handle better I wouldnt need two bikes.

I think the weight and gearing are really slowing down the RG. Maybe it will run better after breaking in? What do I need to do to this thing without loosing my warranty to wake this thing up.

Removing the CC, SERT or simular, AF and fulsac baffles are going to be first but It wont be enough.

infanterene,
First off welcome to the site glad to have you join us. :2vrolijk_21:

Second, forget about the warranty if you want to make mods to your bike (which you will have to do to make it run right).

Third, get the bike, get'r done. ;D

Luckily my dealer will warranty anything as long as they do the work and I use SE parts. They will even put it in writing. Thanks for the welcome!

There are some dealers that will warranty what they install, mine will even warranty non H-D parts they install (see my signature)... However when you are a thousand miles from home and break down..... well that's a different story. There are some dealers out there that will not even warranty H-D parts (or at least try not to and blame the defect as being "your" fault). :( >:( Best thing you can do for these bikes is get them running the best you can by any means necessary and don't get hung up on the "W" word. You'll put many miles of smiles in the wind if you do. :2vrolijk_21:

I can't believe this crap. The dealer sold my SERG!!!! I'm so pissed. I found 2 more within a few hundred miles. I'm loading my trades on a trailer and taking a roadtrip. Wish me luck.

Infanterene,

I had an 04 RG with a built 103" which made the stock 110" SERG seem slow.  There is a lot to wake up though

and it's not hard.

Take a look at these threads in the SERG board.  You'll learn a lot:

Removing a Catalytic Converter form 09 CVO Road Glide:  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=27814.0

These will deepen your knowledge base quickly.  Welcome!

congratulations on getting the New Orange SERG.

I am sure you will love it.  Its rather reasonable to gain quite a bit of power with a good tuner, some fullsac baffels and the removeal of the cat....
