Rossmeyer on the move again
« on: June 02, 2009, 08:37:36 PM »

It is rumored that Bruce Rossmeyer is working on a deal to purchase an existing dealership in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Shenandoah Harley Davidson in Staunton Virginia has been for sale for a while. At first I thought what the hell would he want that dealership for? Then it hit me, The dealership has a new building and plenty of land and sits right on I-81 at the 220 mile marker. They have something going on down there every weekend. Might just turn out to be a good buy for him.

Interesting... that's the first I've heard about that dealership being for sale. It is the dealership that I frequent a lot. :confused5: Might just have to shoot the owner an email. :nixweiss: Not to say it isn't... he!! with enough money someone could even buy Chip's SERG. :D :D

Don't believe all the rumors you hear. (Unless it's about Chip's bike.  :huepfenlol2:) There's a Domestic motorcycle dealership for sale in Florida with 3 stores, property negotiable. That's confirmed.

Emailed owner, and received a reply. At this time there is no negotiations going on between Shenandoah H-D and Bruce Rossmeyer. Owner is of the same mindset as Chip... "if the right deal comes along anything is for sale other then family and pets". So I guess this is just another one of the internet "urban legends". :nixweiss:

Now if you said Nancy would sell Chip.... well that would be a different story. Hell truth be told I'd bet it was a time or two she'd probably pay somebody to take him. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

If we gonna talk about rumors, how about this one?

It is rumored that CVOHarley is owned by Harley Davidson Motor Company and the administrator of the site gets a 500 dollar bonus for every Screamin Eagle sold.
Also the site moderators receive one new Screamin Eagle of their choice every five years. (but only after 5 years service)
It is also rumored that the Motor Company wants CVOHarley to grow and is offering service for life on their bikes to any member who has at least 3 post per day but less than 10.

WOW Dawg, this George Dickel stuff is good, especially after the 8th drink.
If we drink enough we may even start believing our own rumors.
At least, that's the rumor I heard.

I wish it was the George Dickel. I was stone ass sober when I was told this and it was not on the internet. IT WAS AT ANOTHER DEALER in the Commonwealth. The owner of the other store was talking about it. So I would say just sit back and see what happens.

Dood I am surprised the owner said his dealership was not for sale. I HAPPEN TO KNOW DIFFERENT!

Oh and BTW for the right price you couldn't give me CHIP but I might take his SERG!

Patience JC, a 2010 SESG in blue has your name on it.
In post after post you have made it clear you don't want an SEUC so you have to wait for the 2010 SESG.

Just remember everything is for sale at the right price, and never tell anyone what that price it is. Because then you will have the ones tempting you with lower offers. And mystery always pays more.

Maybe the owner doesn't want it out to the public

I was surprised when I went to Boston and saw Rossmeyer's name on the door!  Neil had to fill me in on the details.  Of course, everything in the store was overpriced!    :lolk:

But I love Shenandoah HD.  The staff is great and very friendly.  My first long-sleeve HD shirt bought for riding came from this dealership in January 20006 during one of my early trips to Harrisonburg, VA.  I only wish I could travel back and forth between Rome and Harrisonburg on weekends instead of week days so I could go to a weekend event in Staunton!  So, when I read the title of this thread, I grimaced!!  Since I am a frequent customer, I decided to do exactly what Gary did...ASK!  Sometimes, that is the best way to get a straight answer!

Here's Bob's reply:

From: Bob
Sent: Thursday, June 04, 2009 2:54 PM
Subject: RE: dealership up for sale?

V:

Thanks for your kind and intelligent email.

So many people are full of s… and don’t they love to talk about their
Harley Dealer!

Gary Whiting is  a good man, a good friend, and correct.

Bruce Rossmeyer has never shown any interest in Shenandoah Harley-Davidson/Buell.

Only one person ever asked a serious question about buying Shenandoah Harley-Davidson/Buell
while it was in Waynesboro. That was Dan Argiro (sp) of Winchester, VA in 2004 and I turned him
down. No one else ever asked a serious question about buying the store again until January 2008,
we moved here in April of 2005.

Anyone has a chance to buy the store now as the only thing I have not for sale is my family and
pets and a couple of “keeper” cars and bikes. This has little to do with anything other than my
age, 62 and the fact that my kids are now all involved in other businesses. I have been working
since the 4th grade at something and hard. It’s time for a place South of here in the winter  or an
RV and taking care of what’s left of this broken down body.

Price is simple, 4-5 times EBITDA and sale would include inventory of around $850,000.
Anyone who doesn’t know what EBITDA is really shouldn’t be buying anything worth more
than $1,000,000 and this place is.

Anyone with a firm interest needs to go to Harley-Davidson.com and follow the links to
becoming a dealer. Frankly they will need $1.5-$2.0MM cash and that much or more again
in credit or cash to afford a business such as mine and another $1.5-$2.0MM down on
$7.5MM in real estate, carrying a $5.5-$6.0MM mortgage if they want to buy the building
and 12.85 acres of land around it and tied to it through subdivision plot and zoning.
It’s the best set up in the country, that’s not bragging, just what I am told by every
traveling biker who comes in.

Feel free to post this on the Dealer section of the website and again thanks for the email.

Respectfully,
Bob Ladd, Dealer
Shenandoah Harley-Davidson/Buell
Staunton, VA
www.shenhd.com

P.S. Please ask your website buddies to please stop by RV5 this weekend…huge party!
