Lower fairing vents
« on: June 18, 2009, 04:30:45 PM »

As much $ as I've put into my lowers with custom speakers install I really wanted to leave the lowers on as long as possible, But due to the heat and no vents that time was now. Did some research and found these, hated cutting into the lower but, with dremel in hand. going to ride them tonight to OPRYLAND. high of 97 here now so it should give me some reading. I'll ride them again hard this weekend and keep my eye on the temps.
but now I can't wear my mini skirt or it will blow up. :jester:

:coolblue: Coooool.  LarryB, please let us know how they work.  Spring is over here on the High Desert.  So, relief is needed, especially on the right.  If you have some thermal device other than your boot zipper, how about trying a temperature comparison of opened and closed.  You can carry it in that magnetic rubber thingy with the chokes.  Thank you.

I've thought about adding vents to the lowers on the old red SERG but could never make myself cut the OE lowers.  Actually prefer the look of the bike with the lowers on versus off and the dry feet are nice.

Have intermittently watched for a bargain set of lowers on eBay to get painted to match.  I'd cut those for vents.  No luck so far though.

Are all the lowers interchangeable or are they model specific?  Never really thought about it before or noticed.  spyder

Larry,
Nice job.  Are you able to close them when it is raining and when it gets cold??

Road Glides are different than the Electra Glide type.  See lots of Electra Glide type lowers on eBay.  Only rarely see Road Glide type though.  Good bargains have been rare.  Did score a pair of fairing caps.  Already painted to match.  But nothing more than that.
