Rinehart Exhaust Question
« on: June 19, 2009, 01:23:26 PM »

I have a 2007 Screamin Eagle Road King with the 110 engine in it.  When I bought it a couple of years ago I knew I wanted to put Rinehart true duals on it.  Come to find out, Rinehart did not have the true duals that would fit at that time because I had bought a new model.  I wound up going with Rinehart slip ons with a V&H Fuel Pak.  My question is this, would it be worth it from a performance/sound (I prefer louder over quieter) standpoint to do which one of the following:
   1) Install Rinehart true duals now
   2) Use the current Rinehart slipons that I have and put new header pipes on get rid of the crossover pipe, OR
   3) Do nothing....just stick with what I have.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

1) Installing Rinehart's true dual system means a complete new system,,, 2 in muffler inlet with their design.
2) Install V&H true dual headpipe,, That would be an option ??
3) Your current set up is most cost effective now, Installing true dual headpipes you're going to lose low end performance and your fuel management will have to be re calibrated. If you prefer loud over quiet,, Install a D&D Fat Cat, SERT, High Flow air cleaner (if you already have'nt) Find a reputable tuner in your area and Rock-n Roll  :2vrolijk_21: With the fat cat you will pick up more usable power across the board and raise the db level that you like. Fullsac has a dual headpipe conversion kit for that year of bike.
It will change the sound slightly but might not increase the sound volume.
As far as a performance increase....I doubt you would be able to notice.

If you want good sound go with Connie Foss Racing Pipes. A low loud rumble!! I had Reinharts but when I heard those pipes they came off immediatly!!

If you are happy with the sound level of what you have, changing to a true-dual won't make it louder.  The advantage is getting rid of the cross-over pipe and the heat radiating from it.  It also cleans up the right side of the bike.  The sound will be different when you do that, and my experience has been it is harder to find something that sounds good with a true-dual set up.  With the cross-over the stock mufflers were quiet but didn't sound too bad from a tone standpoint.  With true-duals (V&H Dresser Duals) the stock mufflers sounded worse.  I went with Supertrapp SE slip-ons and they are about the same sound level as Reinhardt.  Now I have V&H Monster Ovals and like their tone better.  My opinion is if you don't mind the cross-over you won't be gaining much by switching to true-duals.

Mr. D, are you saying that a D&D Fat Cat is louder than the true dual Rhinehart's? I'm running V&H true dual Big Shots with thunder monster baffels and they are loud,  but they they do not have the deep rumble i want to hear, have been thinking about going to Rhinhart's or even the fat cats, just not sure if the FC's have the sound i'm want, The 2 or 3 FC's i have heard must have had the quite baffel in them.

I think they meant Carey Faas Racing.  I had their pipes on a Night Rod and they were hella loud!

The fat cat with the standard baffle will ring your ears  :o with our 110, Most riders in the CUSE models run the quiet baffle but still "barks" at roll on. I would rather have the performance gain with the fat cat vs. a true dual set up
