PJ, is there any further update on plans for a non-locking door. Something with a latch that allowed the door to be closed by a simple push? I remember you were looking into alternatives and I was hoping you were announcing a new door latching alternative soon. Any update would be appreciated.

HD, has a new fuel door latch that can be used as a push button or locked if you so desire, some thing similar would be fantastic    http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441958157&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302290763&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302290763&bmUID=1257101947438&bmLocale=en_US

Hello CVO members - First things first...thanks Don for the product review.  Having said that, the locking glove blox covers are currently available for '05-current Touring models with HD lowers.  I'm still working on the '04-earlier versions because there are two completely different HD glove boxes which require two different glove box cover designs. Stand by '04 and earlier owners.  My objective is to provide a great product at a price that blows everyone elso out of the water - kind of back to the basics of making a quality piece and selling it at a fair price. Here's the deal:  $99.95 for a pair of locking glove box covers with standard locks, installation hardware, instructions.  For an additional $20.00, I will have the locks matched to your existing HD key. Harley obviously will not release key codes to my locksmith, so you will have to send in your key for matching.  If you need/want an additional key the locksmith can cut them for $3.95 each which is a lot cheaper than HD's $10-20.  The only other charge will be for shipping/insurance which I can assure you will not be another ripoff "shipping and handling" charge and will be based on your ZIP code.  I expect the turnaround for orders to be about two weeks for keying.  Orders specifying standard locks will be sent immediately.  I'm working on a website for ordering but for right now, I'll take orders via PM right here.  Paypal accepted or mail me a check. Post your questions or PM me.  Thanks for your interest.  PJ
PJ,
Have ya got your website up yet?  I was tellin a poorly non CVO type, Ultra guy, about your glove box doors.

Yea --auh .... got it in the mail today and on the bike within the half hour. Just used a screwdriver to reposition the plastic rivet and a needle-nose plier to rip off the plastic. Wham Bam ... as I was one of the 2 that lost their key in the mail, even sending out an impression/mold of my key worked!  Thanks locksmith and PJ for working with me on this. The locks work with my key and the dups ... not even stiff ... smooth ... and thanks PJ for following up as the delivery was Monday instead probably due to the Thanksgiving week... No probs ...

Hey Techie - that's great news - glad my locksmith could read the impression.  As for the business, website, '04-older glove box cover design and knob/latch/keyless version...whew! I know I sound like a broken record but...we're working on it. Our main concern is being able to deliver the goods so to speak in quantity when we make that move to go more public with a website, etc.  In that regard, finding reliable suppliers is more than a notion. For instance, we are on locksmith #2 and with the economy being what it is, we've got to do more than pray the generally smaller shops we've employed as suppliers even stay afloat. So we have to have backups lined up as well.  I tip my hat to all the small business owners out there because we have quickly learned there is more to making everything work than meets the eye.  One thing I know we did right was launching the product here on the CVO site. You folks are the best source of feedback imaginable. You're picky and not afraid to voice an opinion and that's exactly what we wanted. The fact that so many of you have responded positively to the product and have made thoughtful suggestions is a clear indication to us that we are on the right path. For now, we're surviving on word of mouth sales so Opossum, send me an IM and I'll contact your friend directly. To everyone, thank you for your continued support and patience. PJ

These have been out for a few years.  Had one on my 04 SEEG for several years.....I'd not do it again.  It takes a lot of pressure to push it down and once you push it down, the spring tension clip (that's supposed to push the fuel door up) often doesn't release the fuel door.  Just not enough tension or spring in it. :nixweiss:

Not sure why I'd ever need my fuel door locked, anyway.  Never locked it the whole time I had it.

PJ I just wanted to post a pic to show off my new doors. These were part of my CVO Starter Kit. As everyone can see they look great and work even better. If you do not have these on your bike then you should be getting a set for Christmas. PJ thanks again for a quality up grade.  :2vrolijk_20: :2vrolijk_20: :2vrolijk_20: :2vrolijk_20:
