Picked up my bike tonight, paint looks so much better.  Really sparkes in the sun.

2 problems though...

#1  The outer faring doesn't fit correctly, it's about a 1/4 inch too big.  The dealer took pics, sent them to Harley Rep, and I should receive a new one, at some point.

#2  There is a print of some sort as big as my fist (which is pretty damn big) just above the headlight.  Looks like plastic or something was placed on it before it was dry.  My original front faring and front fender had the same marks, but smaller.  I don't know what the hell Harley is putting on these parts after painting them, but they need to knock it off.

At least I got my bike back for the weekend.  The saga continues...will it ever end???

Before d00d gets you, really only one problem on this end  [smiley=worthless.gif]

However, glad the parts are starting to flow, we can't expect quality and parts can we?  Not on the first shot anyway.

Thanks for the update [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Well...stopped by the stealer this morning to get an update on where we are regarding my paint since they took pictures on 5.27.  Service Mgr. had sent the pics to MoCo and the regional Rep. will be in town w/in the next two weeks and wants to see my bike.  I guess this is the process...huh?  Please advise if there is anything else I need to do...

Many thanks to all,

Not sure how my mgr got my stuff ordered but I know it did not require the rep looking at them or for that matter even pics.  I do know he contacted the tech desk and they told him to look over the bike with me and let them know what parts needed to be ordered and place the order and gave him a tracking number.

You may need to contact customer service at the MoCo as suggested here and get a claim number as well as get them involved to accelerate the process.  At this point they know they have to replace the parts in order to correct them.

Check Cigarmike's post #676 in this thread page 46.  He has the number there you need to call.

Still no word on my parts, I was told "the last week of May", but to be quite honest I kind of like the no washing, waxing or stress of possible scratches to my paint, lol, knowing Ill get new paint eventually...Hell, I still have all the bugs from the Quincy Run all over my fairings and windshield.... hehe, . Id gladly wait till winter for them to replace the parts.

I am taking the same approach on the Cripple Creek ride.  Just keeping it clean enough to enjoy but not worrying too much about any damage from rock chips etc.

I thought about the "light maintenance" approach as well, but just couldn't do it.  I'll believe the new parts are here when I see them.... :-/

Well just picked up my bike from my dealer with the new parts installed Front Fender, Front Faring, Tank, both side panels, Back Fender & both bottom bags.  I knew it looked better than the old set but it was raining hard and very very cloudy out side.... Got it home and dried it off and took a light to it and now I think all my parts now match my inter faring... HOORAY!!!!! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif], Just waiting for the SUN to be really   [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] and to take pictures.  We are suppose to have 4 Days of RAIN thou...I think the new paint is worth the wait, but kinda liked the ideal of not having to worrying about the bug & scratches thing....

Bubba, that's great to hear. Man, I think I'd of had to wait for the sun to come out before riding home, but thats just me. I hate getting a clean bike dirty if I don't have to. Looking forward to a photo or 2!

 [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I have an appointment tomorrow morning with a Harley Davidson Rep to look at my paint issues on my 2006 Screaming Eagle Ultra...Charcoal & Chrism color. Saddle bag lids do not match lids, front fairing does not match inner fairing, gas tank milky.  Should be intesting...has anyone had any experince meeting with a Rep?  I am pleased with the performance of the bike but have had a lot of issues:

Heated Grips didn't work
Radio has a demon in it, changes channels, CD to AM to XM...what ever it feels like listening to.
Headset supplied with the bike has extreme static in the right side
Paint peeling off Sadsdle Bag Lid @ hinge
Driver Back Rest material torn @ base
Tour Pack was gapped .25"on right side

Hopefully I can get some of thewse issues resolved & be REAL PROUD of this SCOOT!

I currently have three other HDs and have not had one warranty issue.

Ride on....

Hey Napalm, sorry to hear of all your quality control issues w/ your new scoot.  I remember back when.......Willie G. just noted that the reason the MOCO had all those quality control issues that almost drove them out of business back in the 70's/80's was due to AMF's requiring to produce too many motorcycles.  And now..........this.    [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

Well, he can't blame AMF this time.  I think it's called greed and shortsightedness.  Same thing that almost killed the automakers back in the late 70's and early 80's, and is threatening to do the same again now.  Too many bean counters making the decisions at the top, while the real product people are frustrated by the constant nickle and diming, failure to invest in new designs and technology, failure to keep up with customer expectations, etc.  It seems to be a common trend in American business, and leads to the "boom or bust" results of the past century.  We just can't see the big picture or the long term, nor can we seem to learn anything from history even though we keep repeating it.  The thing I find most amazing, however, is how every manufacturing company has studied the Toyota system as well as the overall Japanese philosophy of long term planning and commitment, found it to be an excellent philosophy, and then gone right back to business as usual.
