Maybe the bottom line on the paint problems is that you can't have truly custom paint on production vehicles.  Trying to replicate the truly 'custom' candy/metal-flaked/pin-striped paint is maybe asking too much..... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  spyder

I'm glad the MoCo gave me the new bags to keep me patient enough to wait for the rest.  Normally I do not wait well.  The problem with this complex paint in a production environment is they are pushing for the numbers.  As you know custom paint takes time.  Normally a paint set is painted all at once to limit variation.  They can't do that and get the numbers they plan to sell.  Thats the difference between a $2000 paint job and a $5000 one.  T I M E...

Likely incompetance over dishonesty.  I find there are people that will tell you anything to get you off their back.  Too bad when its at your HD dealer! >:(

I would much rather hear bad news than the wrong news....

Incompetence, dishonesty, laziness, just generally not giving enough of a damn....  The paint problem for the 06 bikes existed with the beginning of the production year.  The 07 bikes are now out in some numbers.  That means the problem has been going on for a full production year without final resolution for many of you.  Even if they are saying the right things now; that's a long long LONG time be screwing around.  Hell, some of you guys will have already thought about trading for a new bike before the old bike is ever fixed.

That's what I like about you bro, and one of the reasons I think we are twin brothers by different mothers. Never have to guess what's on your mind, and for those that don't know they better be man/woman enough to hear the truth. ;D

I'll tell you, waiting this long absolutely sucks...I am fortunate to have received a bike without this issue, but for those of you who have put up with this crap for a year or more...well, it just sucks.  I do not understand why the MOCO, knowing they have had this problem, and frankly knowing about it when they were rolling them out the door last year, cannot make a concerted effort to make this good, put it behind them, and make the customer at least somewhat more pleased than they have been for the past several months.

There really is NO good excuse for this delay and continued foot dragging... [smiley=soapbox.gif] >:(

Gary, I just really feel bad for the guys that have had to deal with this for so long.  Hard not to have a little sympathy frustration; especially when you know the MoCo would be just as willing to do it to you as they've done it to them.  As much as their clientele seems to love them (for some strange reason) you'd think the Motor Company would behave better than treating the masses like the candy in the pinata just because they know they can get away with it.

[smiley=soapbox.gif] I replied to the post on Nov 18th, 2005 and as of today 9-12-06 I am still waiting for parts.  My dealer has everything but the fender but the MOCO just can't seem to deliver on their promise.

[smiley=beatdeadhorse.gif] I notified the dealer and MOCO of the issue in August 2005 after I took delivery and this is getting ridiculous.

[smiley=furious3.gif]I am getting pissed and am about to restart the letter writing and phone calling to Rusty at H-D to see if I can stir the pot again.  I wonder if I could get one of the local TV "Consumer" reporters interested?   8-)

Its coming up on the annual shareholders meeting and I have a few shares that could get me in the meeting.  I think QA should be discussed in that forum. [smiley=zwtf.gif] Let's see if I am still waiting for parts before making travel plans.

SE...If it were me, I would be beyond pissed at this point in time...it took what, six months or more for them to even admit there was a problem, and only after probably reading things on this site about folks beginning to talk about legal interaction.  While I am thankful I am not having to deal with this, it bothers me to no end that you guys have not been taken care of by now.

WTF?  Pay the paint shop overtime...whatever it takes to get all these damn parts painted...if they'd set up shop for a couple of weeks to get this accomplished, it would be over and done with and everyone could move forward, and enjoy the true beauty of their bike...when it's right.  There is just no logical, reasonable, or rational reason for this to take so long to resolve.  I guess they're hoping it'll just go away if they continue to drag their feet, or people will become so frustrated they willl just take a beating and trade the bike on a new one, just to get rid of the headache.

In my opinion, 60 to 90 days from the time of order, would be more than adequate time to get all the parts, for ALL the bikes that have problems, and if they wanted to, it could happen much faster.

Yeah...I'd already be stirring somebody's pot, or my representative would be. [smiley=soapbox.gif]

Post a form letter in here for us all to copy and paste into a letter that we send to Rusty.  I'd be more than happy to do it on your behalf.  This is ridiculous!!!!

Just got my bike back today with the new paint installed. Been waiting since the beginning of May when HD Rep gave the OK for the dealer to order new parts. Service Manager told me the parts were coming in 1 part at a time. They changed all of the stripped parts. The bike looks great and the colors match now. Well worth the wait.
Just got done doing 2 coats of carnauba wax. Tomorrow we ride.
